“Relaxing holiday!”
Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here with a friend from the 13-24 November we are both 27 and what a brilliant time we had!
Food is good, lots to choose from, (try the chocolate moose!) never used the a la cart, we were happy eating in the self serve area as a group with the other guests we meet and only used the beach bar once. Although it was self serve the service for drinks were brilliant and the staff were always polite.
3 different bars to drink at but we only drank at the lobby bar in the evenings and pool bar during the day.
Rooms are huge! 2 balconies with a kitchen area. We only used part of our apartment and never used the the other balcony.
Cleanliness is brilliant! The cleaners were always cleaning the toilet areas.
Entertainment team can be annoying but after a while and if you made the effort to interact they were a good laugh!
Make sure you have pictures done! Those boys can be annoying but they do brill photos and like the entertainment team can be a good laugh!
Pool is cold and salt water but lovely to cool off in when it's really hot!
The sea can be very ruff but is lovely and warm and the beach is amazing.
There is some trips but we only did the catamaran.
Overall this place is beautiful and very relaxing with not much to do apart from sun bathe and read which is what we wanted so if your after activities theres not much here.
Met some lovely people including staff and really enjoyed just relaxing.
Go have a good time!

if you are easy going and just want to lie on the beach all day this is for you. Lets start with the good points- huge bed! flat screen telly, clean room beautiful beach, amazing sand dunes sea is warm and clear. We had lovely walks on the beach ,played in the sea and the sand dunes.
the food is fine but it is the same stuff everyday, pizza pasta, salad, various random meats and nice cake/ deserts. I'n a vegy and i had no problems. there is fruit and bread and it is generally all very nice. be careful of the sparrows as they fly around the food hall and poop on the chairs. Staff are ok, helpfulish if you need anything, i think a smile goes a long way. The room has the basics wich is fine if thats ok, i recomned bringing your ipod and plug it into the telly so that you have things to watch as there is only news. no sport- to my husbands disgust. the pool is nice and the resort is very nice to, we didn't need the entertainment so don't know about that. there are 2 really annoying photographers that come round but just say no thank you firmly and they go away. the room did have some ant issues, a toilet seat that didn't sit properly and the room really did need a paint job but other than that. sunbeds on the bench are generally free get there early! because people put there stuff there and leave it but we didn't really have a problem. It is 2 euros for water but you can fill up in the food area, they don't like it though. it is 2 euros for the safe, a day, we didin't use it but just to let you know. you do hear the planes but it doesn't really bother you. We did have a really good time but i think it is worth paying extra and going somewhere else.

Room Tip: we were in the 300's and had a nice veiw of the beach with a balcony.

Stayed at the Decameron for one week and despite cloudy weather we had a great time. The hotel and gardens are kept spotlessly clean, The staff are helpful and polite, There are activities - beach volleyball, archery, table tennis - available but without any pressure at all to join in if you just want to relax. The food was good with plenty of choice, There is hand gel at the restaurant, the serving staff wear face masks and we suffered no food related illness at all. Great value hotel in a lovely location. I would go again.

Just returned from 11 nights at this beautiful resort, ignore all the negative people on here with their negative comments, stick to the Costa del Sol if you dont like this! it was pure relaxation, fantastic location, friendly staff, great variety of food, free sunbeds on the beach, met some lovely people, will be returning again.

I have just returned from a 10 night stay here, the hotel is lovely,
Room - massive with a extra large bed, flat screen tv (never used it though) nice bathroom with bath & shower plus a second room with sofa bed, 2hobs, microwave, sink, mini fridge & table & chairs. We also had 2 balconys over looking an amazing sea view. We were told we would have an hair dryer but when arrived we were told they only have 10 & they were all out!!
Pool - absolutely massive with a small walk over in the middle, always cold but no problem as it was so warm, sun beds are all gone by 7.30am but security so walk round & remove any towels left too long & not been used so this is good, the hotel could easily fit another 10-20 round so this should be looked at.
Bars- there is the pool bar from 10am-10pm all drinks soft & alcohol including cocktails.
Lobby bar from 12pm-12am again all kinds of drinks in glasses.
Beach bar all drinks & food, never ate here.
Food - loads of food available shocking if you cannot find anything to eat, we had no tummy problems & tried all food including, meats, pizza, pasta, salads & rices
I would holiday at this hotel again & my best mate also agrees with me. Lets just hope the staff learn a not more English & the bed situation is sorted around the big pool.
I miss the place & all the people we met.
GREAT HOLIDAY :0)

My wife and i have just spent 11 days at this hotel and will not be going back, first let me start with the plus points 1 Staff very friendly and always eager to help 2 Food we found the food not too bad always hot and a varied selection 3 Cleanliness the hotel and surrounding areas were spotless. Let me now start with the minus points We had a flood in the bathroom on the first night which was fixed straight away but left us with no hot water for 4 days after numerous visits to reception this was finally fixed They ran out of drinks in both the lobby bar and poolside bar every night in fact one night if you didnt like wine or beer tough and this was only 20-30hrs They had no sprite or beer at the beach bar on three seperate occasions, the sun beds on the beach are a disaster waiting to happen nearly 50% are broken with sharp bits of plastic sticking up from the base and sides of the beds Dont even try to get a sun bed around the pool unless you want to be up around 07-00am. This hotel is really a joke which is a pity because with a lot more effort on the management side could become a lovely hotel.

This was a lovely relaxing holiday. My daughter and I stayed between the 1st and 8th Nov.

We flew from Gatwick with Thomsonfly (the plane they use is quite cramped, seat configuration is 3 - 3, no entertainment at all).

Visa:
We booked these on line at the Thomson website, there was no charge for these. When we landed in Boa Vista we proceeded to immigration. For people that do not obtain the visa before leaving the UK, there is the option of buying the visa on arrival (not sure of the cost).

Transfer from the airport was about 10 mins. On our arrival at the hotel, we were greeted very pleasantly with a lovely fruit juice. Royal Decameron is situated on a hill, so there are a large number of stairs around the hotel. Check in was quick and efficient.

The hotel surroundings are very nice, full of beautiful plants. The hotel is clean and all of the staff were really friendly. Rooms were spacious, ours contained 2 double beds, a TV, hairdryer, safe (which cost 2 Euros per day), good AC and a mini fridge . We were supplied with 1 free bottle of water. Because everything is imported additional bottles of water cost 2 Euros, however water by the glass was freely available from the bars and restaurant’s so replenishing the bottle was not a problem.

Staff:
All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and cheerful. We always got an hello. We did encounter some language problems with some staff but for us this was not a major thing and all staff did try to understanding what we were asking.

Food:
Food in general was of good quality, there was an adequate selection of food available in the buffet each meal time. Everything we tried was well cooked and tasty. There were plenty of tables in the restaurant with a choice of indoor and out door seating. There was also a snack bar near the beach but we did not try any food from there.

Drinks:
There was an adequate choice of drinks available (soft drinks, fruit juices, beer, whisky, rum, gin and vodka based cocktails, tea/coffee/latte/cappacino, and water).

Pools:
There were two large pools and one toddler pool. The main pool area was very large and had day time activities going on. The other pool was much quieter. There were plenty of sun beds but most of these did get taken really early. Towels were provided for the pool and beach each day.

Beach was lovely with plenty of sunbeds. Sea was rough with red flag showing each day.

Weather was glorious, very hot all day, sunny in the morning, but getting a bit cloudier later in the day.

Entertainment:
There was some entertainment throughout the day (aerobics, archery, dance, volleyball) and night but we did not participate or watch any of the shows, so I cannot comment about them.

We did 2 trips:
The first trip was a full day (4x4) island tour that included a visit to a small pottery shop, a desert and Santa Monica beach for a swim. We were then taken back to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon we were taken to a village where we visited a church, school and another beach to see a ship wreck. In general there isn’t really very much to see, but I did enjoy the trip and it was nice to get out and see abit of the landscape.

The other trip was a 4 hr catermaran trip. This was really good fun, with free drinks (champagne, beer and soft drinks) all afternoon. Transfer to the cateranman was a little tricky and would be impossible for someone with walking/climbing problems. The cateramaran is not attached to a pier, we had to climb/jump aboard a motorised dingy type boat then board the cateramaran, this was not too bad at the start of the trip but when transferring back to the pier at the end of the trip the dingy got very slippery and a few people hurt themselves.

Money:
Euros were accepted by the hotel, the bars we went to on the island trip and at the airport. Any change given back to us was also in Euros.

In summary: We had a lovely , relaxing stay in a good hotel and I would most definitely go back to the Royal Decameron
