This place is defiantly a great place for a fly and flop. The food is A+ the staff are so friendly and helpful they have set the level for Riu hotels. The hotel was spotless. There is a limit on things to do but if you want to relax this is the place.
The beach is next to the pools the sea is not ideal to swim in it was rough whilst we were there but ideal for a paddle

Can not fault this hotel. Rooms and bathrooms are huge and exceptionally clean.
Staff couldn't be friendlier, food amazing and location is right on the beach which is beautiful. Highly recommend. A great place to relax, no rush for sun beds and beach towels provided.

we stayed middle of Aug for 2 weeks. We watched this hotel being built last year when we stayed at the Karamboa. We were impressed from the moment we entered the building, the staff, as always were so lovely, genuinely pleased to welcome you at their hotel. Our room was facing the sea at the end of a 'block'. The rooms were so different from the other 2 Riu's we have stayed at on Boa Vista. We like all 3, but this one is exceptional. The first time we visited the main restaurant we actually thought is couldn't be the main one. Much smaller than the other 2 hotels, but so much more efficient. Everything was being cooked in front of you, hardly anything was produced in huge quantities, so everything was piping hot, and tasty. You have the choice of eating in the open air, or in the air conditioned section, we liked both. The pool areas are excellent, the pool staff amazing, and the loos pristine. They were cleaned all the time. We liked the seated areas around the pools as well, it gave you a place to sit and enjoy the views under shade. The gardens are lovely, and are kept to a high standard. Our only moan would be that none of the screens in the sports bar showed English sport, and at times it seemed a place for children to play. It might be a thought for the 'organisers' to have a place for children to 'hang' out, and not be surrounded by drinks/drinkers! we have already booked to return in Oct and are hoping to book next summer for 3 weeks !! if you do visit, walk along the beach to the left, and you will find an amazing beach bar tucked just around the bay. A beer was only 2 euros, they even had lobster on the menu. This island is amazing if you want to chill out, there isn't loads of places to visit, but it is has stunning beaches, and wonderful people.

Room tip: virtually all rooms face the sea, but some face the hotel next door !! if it rains buy/take mosie sprays, obey the flag colours on the beach

We checked 2 months before and then a week before, this hotel was apparently vegan friendly! But no, it wasn’t, it was difficult to identify which milk was soya, foods such as tofu were covered in egg and the large selection of vegetables were tossed in butter. After a few days, salad and fruit takes it’s toll and some dishes like lentils had diced ham, beans are mixed with minced beef. It was frustrating to say the least, but had we known that the hotel couldn’t cater for vegans, we could have chosen somewhere else. The hotel itself was beautiful, the pools are lovely and I’m not generally a moaner but apart from the hotel, the island is so baron and arid, there’s just nothing else. Went on a catamaran trip which was really basic compared to others we’ve experienced.

Room tip: Have a swim-up villa, this was amazing

The Palace Hotel deserves all the plaudits it receives. The staff are exceptional as is the cleanliness of the place. There is a variety of food and it is of really good quality - We also enjoyed the three speciality restaurants. There are activities during the day if you want to join in and the evening entertainment is good. There is a gym which has 2 bikes, 2 cross trainers, 2 treadmills, stretch area and some weight machines
As for the beach, it has lovely sand and you can walk both ways without seeing too man people. The blue crisp sea is wonderful to both look at and go in, although half the time there was a red flag. I would suggest you go into the sea opposite the Karamboa as there are very few stones and it is often amber when red at Palace. We have been to the Karamboa three times and yes it is more lively but the Palace is definitely a step up in class. There is also a water sports place just up from the Karamboa and the scuba diving is really good
