the whole time we were there, our room was never cleaned. We were told that the maids will not come in unless we were there. We wanted to see as much of the area as we could, so we could not wait until 9 or 10 for the maids. Also, someone was cooking and our room and the whole hotel reeked of garlic. Yuk!! the room was clean when we got there. Although there are no frills, the furniture can use some updating. But I will not stay at a Thriftlodge again.

The motel is not too spacious but okay for budgetminded travellers. The bed/sofa looked like used and we felt upholstery needs change. Though the toilet was clean. The parking spaces are too near to the rooms. I opened the curtain in the morning and got scared a big dodge dacota parking in front of me! OMG There were not many options in breakfast. Only muffins/donuts and coffee/orangejuice. There are not much seating available in reception room.
The owner is helpful as he explained where to park and eat at Niagara Falls.

I cannot rate this place as a 4 or 5 star.
But this gives you a good value for money and a cozy place to spend night after a tiring tour of niagara falls.

Thriftlodge ( Name says a lot ) Nothing to special to report or complain about. The price was right so I didn't expected to much. Comfortable enough for those on a budget.

Stayed here for one night. Utilitarian decor. Was ideally located - close to the Interstate and near a shopping mall and several chain style restaurants - however I was left with the impression that guests were considered a bit of an annoyance. It was the 'little' things thay bothered me: a very prominently displayed envelope for tipping the cleaning staff... and mud stains on the bathroom linoleum. A nice large television - that only got a few stations (yes, HBO was one of them, but normal cable stations did not come in). And running charges for local calls...

Still, despite its location, it was very quiet.

Right after we entered our room, we flushed the toilet and it started to slightly overflow. We called to the desk to fix the problem. The person knocked on the door and I told him what the problem was with the toilet. At this point he handed me the plunger and said "What do you think I am the maid"and left. I had to fix the toilet.
In addition the AAA book has a $10 reduction in the room rate which we were told we could not get since it was a holiday. I asked what holiday and was told me it was Saturday and they consider that a holiday.
