“Shockingly bad”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

The Como restaurant has been a staple forever - for dinners, anniversaries, baby and wedding showers - you name it. We went for a brunch in January and everything about it was appalling. The people who started this place decades ago would be heartbroken. The brunch began at noon and it was obvious that the room had only been open for about 20 minutes - it was about 50 degrees. The tables were set with silverware wrapped in napkins. No candle, no flowers, no table decor. When everyone was seated they served cold rolls! We had no plates, so everyone used their coffee saucer. When coffee came it was poured into freezing cold cups sitting on the table because the rolls were on the saucers. Wow. I haven't seen that in even the seediest dives. Then the food was delivered. Each plate contained scrambled eggs, sausage, and hash browns. The eggs were fine, the hash browns were a gooey mass scooped onto the plate with an ice cream scooper, and the sausage had been baked for so long that it was all crust, unable to be cut without a steak knife. The brunch was warm and welcoming because of the people, in spite of the Como, certainly not because of it. Advice to patrons: yikes. No advice to owners because they obviously don't read or respond to Tripadvisor notes.

“New Years Eve, blechh”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Made reservations for four on New Years Eve at 8pm.
No issues getting situated or with the service. The waitress was quite pleasant.
My sister in law's food was cold (pasta sampler?) and sent back. The same plate microwaved was returned to her. The salad my husband ordered had a disgusting amount of dressing plopped on the top. My chicken was dry and bland, I thought if I ordered a half chicken it would be intact? It was not - it was three tiny pieces of dry chicken. I liked the gnocchi and my cheesecake was terrific. Might be a classic in Niagara Falls NY, but needs an overhaul. Will not return.

“omg ....... are this people for real?”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

OK OK if you like the seventies decor and atmosphere then you may like the place. But the food? omg ...... I don't think they have a real chef in the kitchen Salad: big portion but old leaves and over dressed to the point that it was saggy
veal scaloppini : it looked like it was a soup not a meat dish. There was so much corn starch that the meat was floating on it (and btw, there should not be any corn starch on veal scaloppini)...fried calamari were rubbery, tasteless and the inner part not cooked. Yes the portion are big, the prices are good..... but I truly don't care to eat bad food. Sorry but will not go back!!

“Wonderful local favorite for over 80 years”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Very good Italian food, tasty breads and typical southern Italian fare with many red sauces and delicious soups, especially the egg drop and lentil. Portions are large, and no doubt you will be taking something home. Pretty much a can't miss in Niagara falls, NY.
