“Go for the pizza”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We found La Hacienda while overnighting in Niagara Falls before a morning flight. OK, so the name and decor scream Mexican restaurant, but this place is VERY Italian. In business for decades, its located at the end of Little Italy stretch of Pine Avenue. Popular with locals, lots of people were walking in to get their pizzas-to-go. We shared a chef salad with house dressing and a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was thin crust, made in a brick-lined oven and the pepperoni was excellent. When we walked in we were not sure about the place, but when we walked out we were glad we found La Hacienda.

“The best pizza in Western NY.”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Stopped in on a Wednesday night and the place was jammed. Had to wait at the bar for a half hour but as usual, it was well worth it. My wife and I started with home made bread and a large chef salad which was outstanding. The pizza took a while but it is worth the wait and is consistently the best pizza around. The server was fine but was overworked, they need to hire a few more.

“hats off to the hac”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

we settled for this one night when another favorite was closed and were hugely impressed with what we had, which was, sorry to say, merely a takeout pizza... the thin crust puts it in a class by itself around here and the toppings -- especially the sausage -- are fresh, generous and well-integrated... warning, though, no credit cards, so come armed, and come prepared to do a bit of a parking shuffle, as well

“Pretty good old standard”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Don't be confused, this is an Italian restaurant. We were told by the wait staff that the owner's wife hired an artist to do the painting on the outside of the building and it looked more like a Mexican cowboy than anything Italian, so they gave it a Mexican name and serve Italian food. The wait staff was attentive, it was loud and busy, no doubt popular with locals. We were told the pizza, wings and homemade pasta was all good, and we ordered a little of each for my family. The pizza was good, but not great. It just felt a little bland, even though we had hand made sausage, olives and artichoke hearts on it. I ordered the cheese gnocchi, which a lot of people rave about. The gnocchi was good, but the sauce was really soupy. I also had a meatball which I felt could have more flavor as well. The wings were the best part. They were not greasy at all and had a lot of good flavor for mild. There was a medical emergency while we were there, for which an ambulance and paramedics had to be called. They restaurant staff handled it gracefully and without creating an emergency feeling in the restaurant. Business went on as usual, even as the medical staff and equipment arrived and took up space. Service was prompt, and we were even seated and attended to occasionally by the owner, Aldo!
