Description: Savor, the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute's (NFCI) fine dining restaurant, provides a real-world hands-on learning experience for students enrolled in the Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, Restaurant Management and Hospitality programs. Savor features an open kitchen where student chefs are on "display" to showcase their talents to the guests. Students work in rotation throughout Savor, including the wood-stone oven, serving fine dining cuisine. The goal is to expose students to classically prepared cuisine, presented in today's modern style, with an emphasis on using high quality local ingredients, all in a state-of-the-art kitchen. Product used in the restaurant are purchased from local sources. Savor's menu changes with the four seasons to give student chefs opportunities to work with and sell the freshest ingredients.

“Fine dining experience”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

We had a gift certificate for the Culinary Institute so we decided to have dinner at Savor. From the moment we stepped into this beautiful building until diinner was over we weren't disappointed.
The service and surroundings are excellent. We started with a wood fired oven pizza that was very good. Our salads and entrees were attractive and delicious. The beverage service was an experience all of its own. There is also a deli, pastry shop and wine shop which are staffed by enthusiatic, helpful staff; mostly all students of the Institute. We will definitely be going back soon and feel the city is lucky to have this great Institution.

“Expensive, but a wonderful experience”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

It was a bit expensive to eat here. We payed extra for the Caesar Salads, which were extremely tasty. The steaks we had, my wife had a Delmonico and I had the Ranch Tournedos, were the best steaks we have had in years. The sides were also excellent. Besides tasting great, everything looked like it was created by a master chef. The service was also top-notch. It was truly a quality meal; worth the extra money.

“Savor the food at Savor”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Savor is a new restaurant in Niagara Falls, NY and is part of the Culinary Institute. We joined two other couples for New Year's Eve for our first dining experience at the restaurant.

The setting is contemporary. The food is considered modern American. The meals are prepared by the culinary students under the supervision of a head chef. The wait staff and service is excellent.

The menu was prefixed and $75.00 per person. We were given a complimentary glass of champagne to start off. We were given a choice of appetizers. I had the lentil soup with bread encrusted with parmesan cheese. It was very good. One had the duck dumplings and three others had the crab cakes. All the appetizers were very good and a generous portion of all.

We were given a choice of ceasar salad or arugala. Most chose the arugala with apple and walnuts. My only bad comment with the arugala salad was too much greens and not enough apple and walnuts. Other than that, it was flavored nicely.

For entrees, three had the chicken which was roasted, butternut squash and mushrooms. One person had the lobster stuffed ravioli and two of us had the wild Chilean Sea bass with rice and assorted vegetables. The bass was white and very flaky and done to perfection.

Desserts chosen were ice cream sundaes served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream hot fudge and two small donuts. The snickers pie was not an ordinary pie shape but had pieces of the pie separated on the plate in small portions. I had the lemon curd with raspberry sorbet and pomagrante seeds. It was very light and refreshing.

Afterwards, complimentary assorted petit fours are given to each guest. There was a wine jelly petit four, s'more, vanilla ice cream encrusted with cocoa and a maple cream puff. It was a nice ending to a great meal.

The menu changes seasonally. You can have your parking ticket validated at the restaurant. This is a great restaurant to dine at should you want a special place for that special occasion. It is opened Wednesday through Sunday.
