Owner description: A huge expanse of natural beauty, this oldest state park in the U.S. offers biking, fishing and cross-country skiing, and contains plenty of hiking and walking trails, including the Niagara Gorge Trail System, which affords great views of both the falls and the gorge.

“Breathtaking views!”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The views of the falls were absolutely amazing! Although they say the view from the Canadian side is better, the view from the American side is really cool. There are several things to do in the park associated with the falls and I wish we had the time to do all of them, however, now I have something to look forward to for the next trip!

“Embarrassment to our country”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The area is shady to say the least. The Falls are so beautiful, but the surroundings are a dump. With all of the foreigners visiting, I wanted to apologize.

“The park itself is just ok.”
Reviewed July 18, 2013

The City of Niagara Falls is very rundown and ratty which really surprised us. Over 10 million people visit every year. NF State Park isn't as nice as Goat Island but that is where all the attractions are. The "tourist" area is actually quite small, a few restaurants and shops; there's a huge complex called Made In America that we didn't go into -- it looked like it contained the usual tacky souvenir shops and buffets. The area of town by the Outlet Mall is much nicer and has better restaurants and hotels. We took a wrong turn leaving NF State Park and the neighborhood looked like the worst parts of L.A. -- fortunately, our GPS kicked in quickly.

“Purchase the Pass”
Reviewed July 17, 2013

If you have a day to spend, the park pass is worth it for a family. It includes all the attractions, and you get to bypass the lines. The trolly pass included is worth it. Nice park, but the town of Niagara Falls on the American side is a bit ghetto. If you stay in a hotel near the falls, you should be OK, or stay in one on Niagara Blvd. which is a better part of the city. If you have a passport, I would opt to stay on the Canada side, but expect delays on the bridge to cross.

“Sightseeing after a walk from hotel.”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

no charge to get in but we went in after 8:30 pm to see falls and sunset. No charge to get up on the observation look out.

Construction along the top near falls so had to walk around barrier to get to observation deck and photo opportunities!
