Owner description: This exciting tour outfits you in a hooded raincoat and takes you into a cave and then along a catwalk near the foot of the falls for an up-close, wet and very rewarding view of the thunderous, cascading waters.

“Amazing experience”

The Cave of the Winds is one of the most exhilarating experiences I've had. I suggest going early before the crowds hit. Just wake up and go, forget the shower, makeup, etc. as you will get delightfully soaked.

This is something every traveller should try. Not sure if you can do it during winters but it is an amazing experience.

“Hurricane of Happiness (if you go by 9:30am)”
Reviewed July 2, 2013 via mobile

Go early! go early! go early! whatever you need to do to get there by 9:30 am then do it. Leave the parking lot or hotel by 9:00am- just get there before 9:30am. Holy Cow! You can not help but laugh and giggle as you try to keep your feet on the ground while being blasted away from the falls during the Cave of the Winds. The sheer force of the waterfall is incredible!! You can actually feel the falls just by reaching through the railings. Don't chicken out because you might get drenched- just come prepared and plan on it. You can always dry out- but you will never have an opportunity like this again. Lots of steps, goofy shoes, and annoying seagulls- but cheap , quick and unique experience

You walk under the waterfall and this is just amazing. Be careful with the gulls. There are stairs to go up, but is is hard to take pictures at the top.

“One of the best!”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

The CoW gets lost in the tourist noise around the Falls, but this is a semi hidden gem! This is the second time we took friends here, and it was a knockout attraction both times. You won't get merely wet here, you will get drenched! But what a way to go!

Coming out of the elevator you make your way out onto wooden platforms and stairs that are constructed on the rocks below the American Falls each spring. At first you think "how nice!" As you make your way out onto the rocks. Then suddenly you think "How NUTS!" As you step out towards the water and get hit full blast by the spray from the falls as it smashes on the rocks just above you. This is getting a taste of the full force fury that is the water from the Falls at an intimate ground view!

It's not enough to feel the spray. As you work your way up the stairs closer to the falls you will taste the Niagara River, and certainly feel it as it occasionally washes onto the stairs around your feet. At several points I stopped to muse that I can't believe they allow people to do this in litigious America these days!

At this point there is no turning back, so you might as well work your way all the way up to the Hurricane Deck, at which point you can imagine what it feels like to be inside a car wash without a car around you. This is getting up close and personal with Niagara Falls in an unforgettable way. It is fantastic! Bring dry clothes for after, and take full advantage of the rain sandals they provide, but DO make the short trip out to Goat Island for this often overlooked experience.
