We were the last people on to a very crowded boat, but it hardly mattered. The views were just amazing and you get really wet, even with the poncho! I do wish we had done this trip on a day other than Saturday, due to the crowds, but it was still an awesome experience.

“Just a must do”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Found free 2 hour parking on the road which was plenty of time. You take the elevator down from the observation tour. we arrived about 2pm on a Tuesday, zero lines. The wind was sending the mist towards the boat, at probably 30 mph winds, but didn't bother us as it was warm. You can read the other reviews about the boat trip, I would just be repeating them. The kids had a blast at the front of the boat being pelted with water. I was surprised how close the boat got to horseshoe falls.

Afterward, you can walk up stairs closer to the falls. With the wind against it was quite an adventure and my 12 year old son loved it. Based on what I saw from the boat, this was free and no different than cave of the winds tour.

“Do Not Miss”

All of us loved this boat trip. Amazing views of all three falls. We were fascinated by the views. Since we bought the Discovery Pass I am not sure how much it cost without it. Front of the boat gets the wettest, dock side of the boat sees the American and Bridal Veil Falls the best one the way out, all sides do get an amazing view though. Just think of the skill of the Captain to keep the boat steady in that turbulent water!

“Explore the Roar!”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

LOVED IT!!! Our 3 year old son and 11 year old daughter absolutely loved the boat ride! We could not believe how close the boat actually gets to the falls! The boat actually goes by the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and then goes directly into the middle of the Horseshoe Falls were you are surrounded with falls on both sides of the boat. We were on the top level (right side) and could view everything fine. The American Falls & Bridal Veil Falls were on the left side of the boat but it wasn't too crowded that you couldn't see. After you purchase your tickets, they give you nice ponchos with hoods. They come in all sizes and they even had short ones for our toddler. You will wear your hood up or your hair will be soaking wet! I would strongly recommend taking a small backpack & change into flip flops as our shoes got wet and it was a really long walk back to the car to change out of wet shoes. We did not take our camera to take photos as there was too much mist to even try to get a picture. We just enjoyed the moment! It was wonderful and really simply amazing to experience the power of the falls that close! It is a must for all ages! You can't say you have experienced or even seen Niagara Falls without seeing it from the water. Prices are very reasonable!! Don't skip this adventure!
Just a note to contact lens wearers: I wish I would have brought my sunshades. The wind was unbelievable when we visited in late June and I had a hard time being able to see in the blowing wind and mist.

“A "must do" if you are visiting the falls”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

We took a 2 week trip and we agreed afterward that this was our number one pick for most memorable. We went early and quickly found parking across from the park for $5.00 (we arrived around 9am or so). You walk to the visitor's center and then down the stairs to the bottom level. On the bottom level you go out the back doors and head slightly to the right and you'll get to where you buy the ticket. After that it goes pretty quickly. You walk up a few stairs and then get on an elevator that takes you down to where you show your ticket and get a light rain poncho. You can then sort of put it on while you walk to get in line to get on the boat. Since we were early our boat wasn't really that crowded. Where it was more crowded was on the top, but we stayed on the bottom deck and had a great view. You'll definitely need the poncho since there was a mist off the water almost the whole time and it is particularly heavy when they get you close to the horseshoe falls. My son had a water proof cover on his phone that still allowed pictures to be taken so that came in handy. When you get through and go back up the elevator, there is a really nice observation deck where you can take more pictures. There is a really nice park also, so it would probably be nice to bring a picnic or something that you could have afterward.
