We had dinner at the Lakeview House the day after Thanksgiving (closed on Thanksgiving). The main dining room was filled with a private anniversary party and we were served in a smaller dining room. It didn't matter since it was too dark to enjoy the lake view. Even though there was a large dinner party going on the service was excellent. We started our meal with the most delicious Blue Point Oysters which were so fresh and clean tasting. My wife ordered the rack of lamb while I ordered the Long Island duck. Both dinners came with the same assortment of vegetables of scalloped potatoes, carrots and string beans. The potatoes were a bit on the salty side while the carrots and beans tended to be a bit bland. My wife raved about the lamb while I found the duck a tad too fatty. For desert my wife chose the Key Lime Pie while I caved in for the Pumpkin Creme Brûlée, both of which were excellent as was the service.

One of the highlights of our day trip to the Hudson Valley was our wonderful lunch at the Lakeview House. We were looking for someplace charming and were delighted with our choice in every way. The view of Orange Lake was stunning, our server Jane was lovely - attentive without being overly intrusive - and the food was outstanding. Despite being satisfied by our soups, salads and meals, we couldn't resist ordering the homemade bread pudding and it was certainly a worthwhile indulgence. We'd go back to Newburgh just to eat here again!

We have been frequenting Lakeview House for many years. The restaurant is on Orange Lake and has a picturesque view of the lake from the outdoor and indoor dining areas. We have had dinner and lunch at the restaurant and both meals are very good. Tonight, we had Shrimp Antiboise and the Braised Short Ribs. Both entrees were very good. The Shrimp Antibiose dish has shrimp, obviously, with a white wine and garlic sauce over linguini. The Braised Short Ribs were perfectly prepared and cooked. The short ribs were presented beautifully. They were thinly and evenly slices arranged on the plate with a brown sauce. The brown sauce is deep and rich with flavoring yet it did not overpower the exquisite taste of the short rib. The ribs were tender. We also ordered the calamari with the spicy Fra Diablo sauce. The calamari were good but do not be scared by the spicy Fra Diablo sauce. It is tangy but not spicy.
The lunch menu has many choices and several of them are the smaller versions of the dinner menu. Each day there are many specials. One of their best specials is the prime rib with their own horseradish sauce. This entree is not offered that much but when it is offered we usually order it.
This restaurant is not on a main road. It is in the rural section of town on the lake. For s first timer driving at night the location might be challenging. When we first patronized this restaurant years ago, it was at night. When we left the main road we drove through a very quiet residential area and could not believe a restaurant was on the road. Finally, we arrived at the restaurant.
Find the restaurant and enjoy yourselves.

There is only one steak I've ever had that was better, it was off the coast of Montenegro. I have teh cajun Prime Rib steak. Mother of god perfect. the meal was OUTSTANDING. 2 problems though, wait times were insane. i think we got there at 6, didnt get food till 730 or more. Definitely awesome food. the 2nd problem; there were like 5 beers. all Domestic, and the non domestic were....Heineken. I really wish they had Much darker ales, deeper colors that would of hit this steak on the nose. Other than that. it was freakin the best steak.
