I will preface this review by saying I have never been to New Paltz before. Found the restaurant using a google search and decided to try it since it had its own brewery. Ordered one of their homemade beers and the BrewMaster Burger for dinner. The beer was very good. The burger was very large and was very good. I added the mushrooms, onions and bacon for an extra $2. The brew city fries are my favorite and didn't let me down. Ordered the PB Cup Pie for desert which was also very good. I left the place full and satisfied. The total bill for 2 dinners, 2 drinks and 2 deserts came to $45. Not bad for a very last minute choice. They also offer outdoor seating but we sat inside due to the weather. If I am ever back in the area would return to the Gilded Otter.

We ordered guacamole but the chips it came with have lost their crunch. Guacamole wasn't bad at all but it's hard to appreciate guacamole if the chips are verging on soggy.

I recently ate luch at this restaurant and had no problems with the food, or service.
What I did have a problem with is the way the eatery went about their "suggestion" for the tip.
On the bottom of the bill is a notation which shows what the percentage will be for the "Total" of the bill. that is---- 15% or 18% or 20% etc
This percentage is based on the meal price and the TAX! Since when do patrons tip on the tax? This is an unethical way of doing business.

Great place to stop in for a beer after a long hike in the Shawangunks, mediocre place for dinner, however. Lively atmosphere and spacious interior. Typical first-available table wait with buzzer pager lasts about 30-45 minutes on a Saturday evening, so you set up by the bar and grab a pint. Servers are college students, friendly and helpful.

Menu covers all the bases, ranging from standard pub fare to more pricey "Asian Braised Short Ribs" and the such. Entree prices are on the high side for a brewpub (avg food will hover around $17), but if you stick with sandwiches and pizza, you can stay under $10. Entree portions seemed a bit larger than necessary (ordered meatloaf). Cut back a bit on the plating and save the customer a couple dollars so he/she can buy more beer! Food quality was average. Wings were disappointing: crisp, but mostly consisted of fat.

Overall, we would visit again to drink a pint or two and order some appetizers. If you order dinner, be sure to pick up a growler of beer to take home... $15.
