Description: The Village TeaRoom Restaurant & Bake Shop is a unique restaurant, in the heart of the Village of New Paltz, located in a landmarked, 200 year old building that was formerly the village tailor shop. Our menus feature, seasonal traditional hearty dishes from a variety of European cooking traditions. The Bake Shop celebrates the art of baking with artisanal methods and ingredients and local farms provide an abundance of ingredients and inspiration throughout the year. A member of the Hudson Valley chapter of Slow Food, the restaurant’s mission is to offer high quality local seasonal & organic food at reasonable prices. Many of our guests plan their visit to the area around dining at our restaurant. Sunday mornings, neighbours heading home with the Times, stop in for freshly baked scones and coffee. Students at the local university choose “The TeaRoom” when parents and family visit. The dining rooms are a warm intimate spot for a romantic candle-lit dinner.

Village TeaRoom is amazing! Their foods is absolutely delicious. Very fresh and very flavorful. The wait staff was very kind though were a little slow on service. Would definitely recommend to visit, but only if you have time to sit. Not one of those eat and get out restaurants.

Granted, we did attempt to eat near their closing time, but the waitstaff seemed nonplussed that we were there and after seating us and leaving us for a few minutes, came to tell us that most of the menu was off-limits because they were out of bread.

We were actually a little relieved ourselves, because the menu was not at all what we were expecting for a tearoom and we were re-thinking our decision to eat there.

We didn't actually eat so I can't rate the food, but we did get some deserts to go, including the gluten-free chocolate one, and they were all excellent.

Good place to go to share a pot of tea with a friend. Scones and muffins are good adds to the tea. Did eat lunch here once, great grilled cheese, a bit pricey for what you get. Prefer the option for breakfast. Give it a try!

Just a short walk south of Main Street on Plattekill Avenue, heading toward the College, the Village Tea Room is an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch, tea, or dinner. I often, as in just about every week at least once, go first thing in the morning to buy the best scones and muffins for breakfast. There are many other bakery items as well, deserts for the rest of the day's meals.
This is also a very good place to have a quiet morning meeting. The coffee is very good; the breakfast fritatta is excellent.
We have had lunch and dinner so many times, I have lost count and they have also catered events at our home six or seven times. The meals show a slight nod towards Ireland, (Agnes Devereaux, the chef is from Erin) with staples like Dingle pies and plowman's lunch, but the options are much wider than that. The turkey pot pie and the "big bowl" of chicken soup are excellent, as are the salads. There are interesting sandwiches and fine hot dishes. There is always a smoked salmon option and at least one other fish dish and there is always at least one vegan soup and a vegan lunch or dinner. The roast chicken is perfect. While I have not eaten steak at the TeaRoom, I have had the short ribs which I love and others have told me that their steak is delicious.
Back to deserts: Agnes is a superior baker and it shows in the pastry case. You may think you know what a cream puff is but hers are superb; the cakes are beautiful to look at, always interesting and delicious. The beehive cake by itself is worth the trip to the TeaRoom.
There is always also a nice wine list and of course there are other drinks as well, including some fun sodas and juices.
In sum, the Village TeaRoom is a restaurant for fine dining in a very relaxed environment. It is a good enough reason to move to New Paltz

Recently had dinner here while on vacation with a friend. Amazing! Each dish had so many wonderful flavors and was so perfectly done. From the smoked salmon/potato pancake and the chicken liver terrine appetizers to our main dishes of incredibly tender short ribs and flavorful chickpea stew, I left in a food coma. We were so full we took our dessert to go. The chocolate and salted caramel cake that awaited me the next day only continued my food pleasure by many more hours.
Can't wait to go back.
