“Hip with a College-Student Vibe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Located right on the main drag of New Paltz and surrounded by plenty of other restaurants, this casual eatery has a wide variety of cuisine to choose from. I had a very good veggie burger with avocado--loved it. The sweet potato fries were killer. My father had a fantastic salad, and my husband loved his grilled tofu. We all shared some potato pancakes and left feeling well-fed!

“Long wait for cheap but mediocre food, Skip it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

This cute place is very popular with students for it's cheap and bustling brunch. New Paltz generally lacks good brunch spots so this place gets slammed and there are often people waiting around on the sidewalk outside. Portions were large and cheap but lacked any kind of flavor. Just very blah and indiscernible scrambles. The latkes were decent, desserts looked good though we didn't try them. I'd try this place again to see what all the hype is about, except that it would be too annoying to have to wait outside for a table.

“Eclectic food, good for breakfast and lunch, hugely popular with students.”

My eggs Benedict were cheesy for my taste. Four of us ate here, and the one who had the omelette seem to like his best. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. But the value is outstanding. This place is really funky. It made me feel like I was back in college.

“Great food & Great service for very little money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

Went here for dinner after reading all the glowing reviews. They are only open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays from April to October. Although it's very busy, the staff is friendly and attentive. The menu is very reasonably priced and the portions are big. I have to say, the food is delicious. Very fresh tasting, not greasy at all, with quality ingredients and an interesting menu with lots to choose from. For 6 of us, the bill came out to $55 and we all left feeling stuffed.

The restaurant is very casual, so don't expect linen tablecloths and fine china. Expect great food, great service and great prices.

A trip to New Paltz is not complete without stopping at the Bistro. I have to get my "Elmer" sandwich. The staff are all friendly. The ambience is very laid back...nothing fancy, but great menu to choose from.
