“Absolutely wonderful place to stay!”
Reviewed November 15, 2010

Mike and Petra were great hosts- very warm and inviting. The house and grounds were also beautiful! I couldn't have been happier with my stay. And the food was awesome. The yummiest healthiest pancakes ever. Mike and Petra are very active, and can recommend tons of hiking and activities nearby. A must stay!

My wife and I both agree that that was the best Bed and Breakfast we have ever been. The owners makes u feel like home and the positive energy and relaxation this house gives is unbeleivable. Three days have passed and we still relaxed... We are thinking to visit very soon with other couples.

Petra and Mike themselves add to all the lovely touches for this peaceful, enjoyable Bed and Breakfast. The food was outstanding, and the kindness and caring notable. Great location, and personalized assistance to make the most of our stay.

As this guest had had a wonderful experience, and we enjoyed each other''s company immensely, I felt compelled to write and ask them where they felt they could have received more value, as it is of the utmost importance to us that our guests fully love their experience with us at the Hungry Ghost. I also asked them what rate they felt would have been more in line with what they had received. The response was that although the pricing was competetive, they felt the price of the room was not reflective of a room with a shared bath; however, as they had had such a lovely time, they could not come up with a clear answer either.

To that end, we continue to offer more ammentities to our guests - in the form of organic local foods, specialty items for the diet/allergy challenged guest, passes to local trails ( up to $40 value), evening desserts, and more.

My husband and I have stayed with Mike and Petra at Hungry Ghost a handful of times, and I am just now getting around to writing my glowing review. The house is so wonderful and warm, and the crisp white bed linens just beg to be laid on. The fireplace in the 2-story living room is the focal point of the home (in my opinion) and we have enjoyed many a glass of wine there in the evenings between dips in the hot tub. In the morning, we often see deer outside across Perta's organic garden and enjoy a walk through the yard past the lovely pond and down the driveway to listen to the birds. Petra's cooking is amazing, and this house feels like our home away from home. We stay here every time we're in the area to climb, hike or just to visit Mohonk Mountain House (where we were married). This is by far the best B&B in the New Paltz area, and my husband and I have stayed at all of them. Take our word for it, you will not be disappointed - and you will be back!

I definitely recommend Hungry Ghost House for everyone who is seeking a romantic, relaxed, and comfortable getaway in the Hudson Valley. Petra and Mike are wonderful hosts who make you feel at home. The jacuzzi is a plus! No matter the season, it is great to spend time outside in the hot water, relaxing from hiking and climbing. It is the forth or fifth time I was there, and certainly will come back soon.
