“Great outcome after a long day of thruway driving”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2008

This hotel is a good 15 minutes off I-90. We ended up here because all the hotels at the exit were full! The front desk staff at the Hampton contacted this Ramada and secured us one of the remaining available rooms in town (who knew Utica was so busy?!). The Hampton folks were kind enough to print out a google map with printed directions to the Ramada. Hotel was dated, but front desk staff greeted us with a friendly reception. Our second floor room was clean. The king size bed was very comfortable. And the property, although nearly full, was very quiet that Thursday night. The bathroom was the only weak spot: it smelled of mildew and could use a good deep cleaning. All in all a fine spot to stop after a long day of thruway driving!

The hotel is very dated. The first floor has a musty odor. The second floor, where we originally had a room, smelled as if a smokers convention had just been there.

Air conditioner loud, wallpaper peeling and the smell of chemicals (room must be sprayed daily to help eliminate musty odor) in the room was overpowering. It was overpriced for the value.

If you stay over on a Sat. night, be aware that there is a loud band in the lounge that plays until 1:00 AM. Get a room far away from the lobby area.

I'd stay someplace else..like the Radisson in Utica for about the same price

There was no hot water in the morning. The walls are thin and you can hear everything in the hallway. The shower grout was clean but the floor grout had been around awhile. It was generally clean but very worn out. This would be a Priceline 1 or 2 star for sure. We paid $75 on the hotel's website.

I stayed here with a friend for 1 night a couple weeks ago. We were staying at The Lodge at Turning Stone for the next 3 nights & our room wasn't available for a last minute extra night addition so we stayed here for the 4th night.

The bathrooms were small. Very small. The sink, mirror, & vanity are actually outside the bathroom. That was a little weird. We were like blowdrying our hair in the doorway area.. But again, its a get what you paid for. The room including tax was $90 & change.

My friend & I were weary about the cleanliness, so we didn't sleep under the covers.

It just needs an overall update I think.

Although, the manager who checked us in was extremely nice. So the customer service is great. Its just really in need of an aesthetics boost.

I have stayed at this Ramada last year. It is a convenient location for me because of family. They have made many updates to this hotel. New mattress which were much needed led way to a good night's sleep. If you have time for dinner, try the restaurant, one of the best Italian meals I have ever had! The rooms a little small, but the staff is friendly. I would definitely come back!

This hotel is decidedly second-rate and generally tired and dated. The non-smoking room was clean, but had a faint residual stale odor. The bed and bedspread seemed to be new, but the blanket was tired-looking. The other furnishings--desk, chair, dresser--were in good repair but low-end. The bathroom was clean, but again, old and tired. The bathroom lighting was very poor and dark.

The dirty window looked out on a dirty parking lot, so opening the drapes just presented a lot of ugliness. The window lock was a length of grade stake cut to fit the sliding window track.

I expected better from a Ramada.

If my reservation had only been for one night, I might have stayed, but I was in town on business for the entire week, and just couldn't face the prospect of this sad, depressing room, so I decided to go to the Radisson, where I'd stayed before. It's a lot more expensive, but much more comfortable especially for an extended stay.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and my departure after less than an hour posed no problem. The desk clerk asked why I was leaving and I explained that I expected better accommodations from a Ramada. She said she would have upgraded my room if she'd known. Of course, by then, I'd made other arrangements, and the real point is that a hotel should give its guests good rooms to start with.

I was very disappointed that this Ramada was as run-down as it was. I expected better. Holes in the blankets, a vomit smell in one hallway, and terribly outdated everything. Also horrible was the parking lot that the hotel shares with a fitness center, causing the convenient parking spaces to be crowded and too exposed.
