This is a unique place where you actually can go where they are baking the bread and grab a bagel or bread as soon as it comes out of the oven. These breads and bagels are delicious when they are hot. There are many varieties to choose from and they all are excellent. When we visited we skipped the busy breads displayed behind the counters, grabbed some bagels and bread from the bakery room then when through the express checkout. If you don't do it that way and want to make it a complete shopping experience, prepare to wait in line.

We live in Rockland so sometimes I forget how unique the Rockland Bakery is. When friends visit from out of town, they often want to stop thru here. It is definitely an experience! The hot, fresh baked goods are there to make your mouths water. My kids love the homemade soft pretzels. I love the multi-grain breads and my husband loves just about everything. The Irish Soda bread and challah is great, too. You can do better on bagels elsewhere in Rockland at a traditional bagel shop. I like the attached deli- great place for a turkey sandwich on the run. Parking can be a bit of a snafu if you hit it at the wrong time, but somehow you survive. Worth a trip - lots of fun! Fair prices, too.

Excellent bakery experience. Everything is fresh, and the smell is like heaven! Be ready to pick your own bread, bagels, rolls, etc. as it comes out of the oven.

There was a famous and favorite Morris Park Avenue, Bronx Home Bakery where on a Sunday morning, people would come in for rolls and buns by the dozen each, or so it seemed. almost exclusively. The aroma of fresh baked rolls was unique, different from the whole pies only pizzeria across the street. The jelly donuts were so full it was almost impossible for a young boy not to mess up a shirt. The loaves of Jewish rye being cut on the machines was incessant. And all that variety, warmth and freshness was gone from my life for a very long time, until my brother introduced me to the Rockland bakery nearly twenty years later, with today's Jewish heritage favorite to an outside world being bagels more so than rye bread. R. B. is a great neighborhood bakery without the chic prices and beautiful people atmosphere everywhere.

The crispness and crack when bitten is what's most difficult to find in traditional bakery rolls beyond Rockland Bakery, usually bought in a supermarket plastic bag practically guaranteeing a soggy, stretchy, doughy, chemically preserved chew. As we all know, bakeries have generally been handed over to large food emporiums which do as much as possible with terrible quality ingredients whose main function is looking pretty enough in the display cases. It's not so with Rockland Bakery where appearances are secondary to maintaining a wonderful variety and quality of a consistent strong professional standard at a surprisingly affordable price. Accordingly, it's one of those places to which people don't mind driving that extra bit.

Nothing like the smell when you walk into RB. I Love walking through picking out fresh rolls and bread. I haven't had a bread from them that I don't like.
