“Amazing B&B and Innkeepers!!!”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I took a trip here with my daughter for her birthday. Deborah & Richard made us feel so welcome and at home. We stayed for 2 nights in the Garbutt room, which is absolutely beautiful!!! It is located on the first floor at the front of the Inn, so peaceful and relaxing. Deborah had so many wonderful suggestions of where to eat and things to do. The breakfasts were delicious, Deborah was happy to accommodate me (I have Celiac disease). The grounds around the Inn are very well kept and inviting. I will definitely be returning with my husband. Thank you Deborah and Richard for your wonderful hospitality!!!!

Room Tip: Any room is extraordinary!!!

I was gifted two free nights in the MacNaughton (room), and purchased a third, and decided to take my wife here for our 2nd wedding anniversary. Needless to say, we had a great stay in Mumford. I really appreciated Deborah and Richards hospitality. In fact, they let me arrive early to put flowers in the room, and by the time I was headed to the car to travel home to get my wife, Deborah had made us dinner reservations at a local restuaraunt in nearby LeRoy! Talk about attention to detail! In fact, as guests of the "Inn," as it is reffered to, we were treated to two free desserts! Breakfast was deliscious, and the Inn itself is gorgeous. I would suggest however that for extended stay's, upgrade to one of the bigger rooms that this B&B has to offer. There are many to choose from, and as Richard told me, they each "have a different personality, like the people who stay there do." In fact, the host's encourage guest's to check out the other rooms, pending the door is open, and no one is occupying it. On top of this they welcome guests to traverse their beautiful property which includes a waterfall, and a foundation to a turn-of-the-century paper mill. Take advantadge of Deborah's zeal to make reservations for you, or to suggest places nearby for you to see, e.g. Letchworth State Park, or the Genesee Country Museum, she really enjoy's her work!

What a great find. The Genesee Country Inn is what a bed and breakfast is intended to be. Welcoming, friendly, and comfortable. My daughter & I stayed here for 3 nights while looking at an area college. Deborah and Richard couldn't have been better hosts. Breakfasts were all homemade, plentiful and delicious. Our 4 poster bed was very comfortable. They have 100's of DVD movies to choose from. The Inn has 10 rooms (most, or all have their own bathroom), so a large group would do well here. Deborah is a wealth of knowledge about area restaurants, antique shops, and attractions. If we're in the area in the future, we look forward to staying here again. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the inn for 2 nights. There were many dealers and shoppers for a local
antique show staying at the inn. The atmosphere at the inn was the perfect blend for interaction with the other guests and privacy.
The breakfasts were delicious and there were always home made cookies available!
Deborah and Richard were the perfect hosts!
A good time was had by all!

We stayed here for one night -- having visited once before around 20 years ago. The B & B has since changed hands, the peace one gets from looking at the mill pond and hearing the fountain are quite unique. Deborah is a great hostess and the breakfast was quite good. There is a large selection of DVD's from which to choose to end your night. We visited in summer so did not have a chance to try out our fireplace. Be sure to visit the Genesee Country Village just down the road -- a unique museum where you can spend the better part of a day, or Letchworth State Park. Caledonia Inn, one mile away, serves wholesome and delicious American style cuisine.

Room Tip: We stayed in the McGinnis which as a sliding door to a patio with a great view of the garden and pon...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Genesee Country Inn Bed and Breakfast, built in 1833in Mumford near Rochester, New York, is situated on Spring Creek, a trout stream where guests can enjoy private fly fishing or relax by the mill pond. The inn has ten distinctly, comfortably decorated bedrooms, all with private baths, air-conditioning, telephones, hair dryers, and TV/DVD players. The king suite enjoys a beautiful view of the gardens, fountain, and mill pond. The garden rooms have gas fireplaces and a view of the creek. Guests enjoy the comfort of a large parlor, dining room with a gas fireplace, and a beautiful all season sun room with gas stove. During the 1800s, the inn was a plaster mill and later a lumber mill. Around 1917, this lovely old mill with its 2 1/2-foot thick stone walls was converted to a two-family home. It wasn't until 1982 that the Garbutt Mill, which was a private residence, became the Genesee Country Inn. The inn is close to Rochester, Letchworth State Park, Niagara Falls, many museums, art galleries, colleges and universities. Also The Genesee Country Village and Museum, less than a mile from the inn, is the third largest living museum in the country where visitors can experience craftsmen demonstrating the trades of life in the 1800s. ... more   less
