We heard about Conte's for years while we lived in the city. We finally got around to going last week and boy was it great!! The menu has just about anything a seafood lover likes! Sword,Tuna, Cod Lobsters, Striped Bass. We ordered the outstanding "No Filler" Maryland Crabcakes to start along with Maine Steamers. Both were great, soft tasty crab along with the saltinesss of the steamers made a great combo along with our wine we brought(. they now have a beer and wine licsense ,$10 cork is fee fair enough). For dinner we had the Carolina swordfish with lime , soy, dijon marinade ( cooked to perfection) and the miso glazed Chatham cod was just fantastic! To finish it all off a piece of homemade key lime pie made it a memorable meal. Service is courteous and efficient. Decor is funky/offbeat.

I have been eating at the restaurant both lunch and dinner for 18 years...very frequently. This restaurant is modeled after one that Rob Contes Uncle ran for many years in Westchester County. Its premise is very simple. The highest quality seafood served in a earthy, friendly atmosphere. Absolutely no frills. Its a high energy place with Rob Conte and the wait staff running around to keep everyone served and happy. It is a rather small place and if you want very high quality service with and elegant and quiet undertone then this is not the place for you BUT if you want really good food and a friendly informal setting then definitely go there. You will often see strangers from different tables talking to each other and offering to share tastings of their dinner.

Wow, so disappointing. Food was good, not great, but good enough, except it was so way overpriced. Two crab cakes the size of a nickel each- they were good, but not worth $17. Literally two bites. Then we also got linguine with lobster. First they overcharged us for it and threw away the leftovers, which was a whole plate of pasta. Again, at $27 I could make my own box of Ronzoni for $1. The lobster was just okay, it was in the shell and a lot of work for little payoff. Swordfish was also just okay and had a weird sauce on it. The most appealing aspect was that it is bring your own. We had no idea they'd charge us $10 corking fee. This is not manhattan! Overall just a huge disappointment. I'm writing a review because the most current one was from 2009. We hoped it was better by now and that was why there were no reviews- nothing to complain about, but honestly, it's all the same. The owner is obnoxious unless you enjoy fake hospitality. The only other 2 tables were friends of his and he made us feel like unwelcomed guests in his home. If you like over-priced small portions and poor service then this is for you, otherwise skip it. While the seafood wasn't terrible, everything else was.

While the food is good, the owner is not. Unless you're a regular or a person he feels is "important" don't expect to be treated with much courtesy. He's pretty obnoxious which ruins the dinner. It's a very nice restaurant and very quaint. It would be nice if the total package was a positive experience.
