The beach and indoor pool are great but the rooms are in very bad shape. The place needs a make over. The service is the worst. I would not recommend it.

My husband and I just returned from a weekend at The Wavecrest. To say the least, we weren't all that impressed. The location was great, but the room left much to be desired. We stayed in The Beach Dune building in room #127. It was an upper corner unit. The view was awesome. However, while the room was clean, it was in dire need of updating. The wallpaper was stained and patched. There were also some stains on the carpet. The closet doors stuck. The TV stand was so low that we had to put the TV on the dresser in order to see the screen. The terrace had a beautiful view of the beach and ocean, but the indoor/outdoor carpet used to cover the floor smelled terrible. The indoor pool area was tiny and dingy. We decided to pass on taking a dip. Also, on the walk over to the indoor pool area, we had to pass several windows that looked directly into a storage area. Not very attractive, and a window was broken.

As far as the staff is concerned, I have mixed feelings. The cleaning staff was extremely friendly and helpful. However, the front desk staff was not. In fact, the front desk actually had to nerve to call our room at around 11:20am to complain that we hadn't checked out yet! It was a rainy Sunday morning off-season, and the resort was practically empty! If we had been a few hours late checking out, I could understand the call. However, to bother paying guests who are only 20 minutes late checking out is horrendous.

This was not our first stay in Montauk, but it was our first and last stay at The Wavecrest. If you don't mind rude staff and dingy rooms that need updating, then this is the resort for you. However, if you prefer a bit more for your money, try another resort. We made the best of it and enjoyed our weekend. Although, for us, the breathtaking view did not make up for the poor accommodations and the less than friendly front desk staff.

Just returned from a three day getaway that was just great. Wavecrest is located right on the beach and it's amazing how relaxing and hypnotic sitting on the deck watching and listenong to the waves break can be. We stayed in a nice studio with a kitchenette. The bathroom was sparkling new and the vanity had plenty of draws and a big mirror so we both had our space. The place has great facilities, an indoor heated pool, a sundeck, barbeques and your own private beach. We had really nice weather for two of the three days. Not bad for this early in the season.

I stayed at wavecrest several times with mixed thoughts. Some rooms are not in the best shape and clearly they do not spend there money to update them. While others are fairly nice. The front desk people are rather rude and unhelpful. And some of the workers look unprofessional. Even at the level of making the reservation the service left much to be desired. The owner would do the place a service by replacing them with individuals who are service oriented and care about getting return customers and future business. After all we are on vacation and want to enjoy ourselfs and not be treatly rudly. Most of Montauk has many lovely and friendly people working there. Which continues to make it a joy.

I have been staying at this resort for over 10 years now. Some of the rooms are nice, some are not updated at all. The resort needs some major updating. The staff at the front desk are no nasty. They act as if they cannot be bothered. This has bothered me for many years, but the place is reasonable in low & mid season, and it's a beautiful location. Staff needs sensitivity course. The women at the front desk never smile, appear angry all the time. If you get past that...then you're okay.

Wavecrest Resort. Old Montauk Highway. Perfect informal easy week-end for my fiancee and I. The weather was gorgeous - we grilled our lunch in the BBQ, strolled the uncrowded beach front - and enjoyed the overall beauty and chill-out quality of Wavecrest. We stayed at #168 and the room was simple clean and inviting. Towels are provided also for the beach. We went surfing and enjoyed someone else's beach bombfire under the starry skies.
Parking was rather full and hectic but I wonder how can this resort keep all guests, arriving and leaving, plus friends and neighbors in one parking lot? This is a rustic and quiet haven on the beach, not the Marriot Hotel.
Longing to return soon.

The place is an absolute joke. For 270 dollars a night my wife and I were totally disappoinited. From the second we arrived we knew it was a mistake. The parking situation is awful. Anyone can park there, whether a guest or not, leaving the paying customers to fight over which spaces may or may not be remaining. Our room smelled awful, the carpet and furniture was cheap and stained. The towel rack was missing in the bathroom. The patio furniture was covered in bird droppings. They actually had the nerve to request that guests use their towels more than once to save on their laundry $. Do yourself a favor, skip this place, spend the extra $ and stay at a place where the staff actually respects and accomodates its guests.
