“Over priced-Like everything in the area”
Reviewed June 25, 2008

Just returned from a one night stay at the MYC. Rooms are very basic and in desperate need of a renovation, the hotel has a large sign when you check in depicting the new renovated rooms (2009). My room overlooked the parking lot which was fine since I was on business and by myself, problem is that I paid $226 with resort fees and tax. This room should have been no more than $89, on the plus side AC was cool, bed and linens very comfortable on the down side bathroom was last renovated in 1976, walls had signs of mold, bathroom floor had mold in the grout lines, rusty shower curtain holder. All of which I would have expected for $89 but not for $226. The area can get away with this since there are no national hotel chains with cleanliness standards, which to compare them too.

If you plan on staying here for a vacation, I strongly recommend a water view, unless you like to look directly over a paved parking lot.

Definitely not worth the money they charge. The grounds are nice but once in our room we felt like being in some cheap motel that has not been renovated since the early ninety’s. We could hear the people in the next room and above us.
Worst of all, they have infestation issues; there were ants all over the bathroom floor.
After checking with friends that vacation in the area, we were told that most hotels around Montauk give similar experiences.
You only pay for being close to the Hamptons.

Had a great bargain on a room at Montauk Yacht Club. Great room, great prize. But unfortunately we could not use the indoor pool, because there was no lifeguard on duty. Very strange, we are adults. That was the only problem here though.

I just returned from a short stay at the Montauk Yacht Club for a business offsite. For a business retreat in the offseason, it worked well because there were few other guests, limited distractions and plenty of space. We had a nice conference room with a balcony overlooking the water.

The rooms are mediocre. Mine had a decent view from the balcony, two queen beds and very generous closets. They could stand to be updated a little bit and the walls are very thin!! Some of us had problems with the air conditioning.

I was not impressed with the restaurant. The menu selection is poor and the food itself was boring and bland. And no wine list? To be fair, I believe they recently acquired a new food staff and are making an effort to improve this. Until then, I would recommend going out to dinner.

Very nice open bar area overlooking the water.

We felt like we were a million miles from home. The service, the facilities, and the food were all excellent. The accommodations were the icing on the cake for a great day of 'Sunday Driving' including several wine tastings, some surf, and the worlds greatest lobster rolls in Amagansett. We arrived late and the staff at MYC was very accommodating. We spent the evening at the indoor bar excited to watch the Red Sox game while enjoying a fine meal. I would fully recommend the tuna steak entree, the musard-soy marinade was out of this world!

Do yourself a favor and schedule a long weekend out in Montauk at MYC, we had an awesome time.

We have just returned from a weekend at the Montauk Yacht Club. As a Long Island resident, I have spent many summers on the South Fork in various hotels along the beach. I've always heard good things about MYC, and thought it would be fun to spend a night out there and visit some South Fork Wineries. The off-season price was expensive, but I thought it would be worth it for staying in a hotel that claims to be a caliber above the usual Hamptons and Montauk beach hotels.

After checking in in the late afternoon, we arrive to a hotel with a nice exterior and lobby, however, as we walk to our rooms the hotel appears to be outdated. We requested an ocean view (a must if you're staying here, or else be prepared for parking lot views), and the view of the marina was quite beautiful. If you're looking for open ocean views don't stay here, as the hotel is not located on Montauk point and faces the water between the forks.

However, the room was very dated- mirrored vanity, cheesy bed spreads, icky carpets, and bathrooms which you might expect in a Comfort Inn. They messed up the room and we got two fulls instead of a king bed. Apparently, the hotel does not use fitted sheets, instead using a flat sheet to cover the bed which slides off to reveal a mattress. The shower head was terrible, and the bathroom dark. On top of that, the T.V. remote didn't even go with the T.V.!

The outdated room might have been acceptable had it not been for excessive noise all through the night and early morning. The problem for the water views is that the small beach is immediately below the rooms, so the sound is very loud. The walls were thin and we also were by the indoor pool so people were walking in and out until the pool closed. We didn't eat there, but from checking out the menu, you probably could get a better dinner in Chilis.

In all, not worth the price. Instead, I recommend you stay at the Wavecrest, located directly on the beach. The price is great, there are efficiencies so you could cook, and the staff very friendly. In the off-season, you can get some great deals. Go there instead- (also, Gurney's is another place you might want to look into as a higher-end alternative).
