“Great Place, Great Time”
Reviewed August 13, 2009

After reading some reviews we were a little nervious but after our stay i felt obligated to write a review. So here it is in a nut shell

Upon our arrival at 9:30AM the front desk had an early arrival sheet in which you write down your cell # and they contact you when your room is ready. We were called @ 12:00PM and unpacked and at the beach by 1:00, huge bonus, they could have waited unitl 3:00PM, again huge bonus.

The cafe on site is awesome, freindly service, resonable price, clean, fresh food.

Rooms were clean, ac worked great, maid service was prompt, cooktop and fridge were great.

Staff was always emptying garbage pails, picking flowers, cleaning pool overall and was very well maintained.

Great stay will be back next year.

Maybe it was because it was "new" last year but this years visit was not as good. Much had to do with the condition of the room we were in. The bathroom was our biggest concern. Yucky is the word to discribe it. The bathtub was peeling. Fan kind of hung from the ceiling and I don't think it did anything except make noise. The whole room needs a overhaul. When we checked out I mentioned it to the girl behind the desk and she didnt comment at all. I don't think she cared less. If you do go make sure when you book to ask about the condition of the room they are giving you and stay away from room 4. Food at cafe was good but like the rest of Montauk too expensive for what you were getting.

I think we are going back to the Cape next year. We've had our share of overpriced Montauk!

This was the 2nd time that I stayed at the Atlantic Terrace for Memorial Day Weekend. I stayed with a group of friends (all of us in our 20's) and between all of us, we occupied 3 rooms. The Altantic Terrace is merley someplace to crash for the night, while enjoying the beach and the town of Montauk- That's It. I would not reccomend this hotel for couples looking for a romantic getaway, or for anyone who is looking to enjoy a luxurious hotel experience. This hotel is perfect for 20 something year olds, looking to party on the beach, in a no-frills enviornment (think college dorms).
PROS- clean, close to the beach and town, decent pool, decent counter-service food area
CONS- horrible bed sheets (itchy), rude staff, poor decor, overall "dingy feeling"

I stayed at Atlantic Terrace because it was a preferred vendor for a triathlon in the area.

The hotel was dingy. The decor was stuck in the 70's. There was not a screen on the sliding door and the air conditioning did not work. The sheets were slim and bedding old. There were bugs on the bed!

They have a 14 day cancelation policy. Located near the beach but so are all the other hotels.

I would never stay here again or suggest it to anyone.

  • Liked — The shower pressure was good.
  • Disliked — Not clean, bugs on bed and a fork!

We are truly embarrassed by this one-time incident. We did everything we could to accommodate this guest by moving her to a new room and offering a discounted rate along with the option to check-out a day early with no penalty. This room has since been exterminated and all infected materials were discarded. The Atlantic Terrace cringes at the thought of bugs in their beds and do everything possible to keep rooms clean and healthy for all our guests.

Recently spent a couple of expensive nights at the Atlantic Terrace. $250+ per night in July. Place needed a good overhaul, especially for the price. It was 2-3 stars, barely above a roadside motel level. Room was clean, but musky, and there was trouble locking the windows and sliding doors. The beach is more suited to surfing than swimming. Staff was terse, but at least pleasant.

On the positive side, the walls, floors and ceiling are cement, so noise is muffled and/or extinguished entirely. The pool was nice and they are directly on the beach on the far side. A short walk gets you into no-man's land. Loads of cable channels. A short walk towards town for food and it is relatively close to the jitney.

Parking was a premium. They only offer one parking pass per room and some folks apparently brought more than one and took up more than their fair share. Someone was checking tags out on the weekend, but it was open to interpretation during the week.

There seem to be some regular families that travel, eat, and hang out together all here. They did have a metal hotel grill area for grilling stuff. The families appeared to cart all their stuff here to hang out at the scrappy hotel.

Overall, spend your money to stay at one of the nicer resorts on the old highway.

Having been to Montauk many times we have found a great location with the best value. Our room had access to the terrace from the beach and an ocean view steps away from the pool. There is good security, and grounds keepers, a great place for families as well as couples. The common areas were great for sitting around the table with friends and family. The game room has WiFi if you feel the need to connect. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked great when needed. The kitchenette/refridgerator was a nice convenience to have a simple breakfeast or picnic lunch on the beach. The nearby cafe was clean and is run by a professional and reasonable in price. Great taste and good coffee!
We will return next year, and the years to come.

MY boyfriend and I love going to Montauk off-season. We like the quiet and lack of crowds. The Atlantic Terrace has lovely grounds and the pool is practically right on the beach. We booked a standard efficiency room w/two beds and full bath on the second floor. Private balcony. I am diabetic and prefer to cook my own breakfast due to dietary restrictions. I was shocked when I scoped out the kitchenette and found that there were absolutely no pots or pans in the cabinets. There was no toaster nor microwave. A quick call to the front desk got us a set of pots, spatula, large spoon but no frying pan. The room was nice, clean, although we did have trouble with channel 2 not having sound on the TV. My biggest disappointment and the sole reason for booking at Atlantic Terrace this year, was for the hot tubs that are indicated on their website. There are NONE! I had intended to make a complaint upon checking out, but I had gotten sick and had to be rushed to Southampton Hospital and that was the last thing on my mind. It is a nice place, but I have stayed in better equipped effciencies in Montauk.

  • Liked — Very nice grounds, cafe on premises and nice room
  • Disliked — Poorly equipped efficiency kitchen and no hot tubs as shown on their website
