On our recent trip to Montauk, we decided to try Inlet as is was mentioned in Newsday as one of the ten best seafood restaurants on LI. They don't take reservations so the wait can be long, but we lucked out and got a table on the outdoor patio after only about 15 minutes. The menu is largely seafood and very expensive. But everything was excellent. The only disappointment was that I ordered a blue crab California roll and they brought a regular fake crab stick California roll i could get anywhere. I am not sure if that was the waiters fault or the kitchen. I asked the waiter about it and he didn't really do much. They did charge us for the regular California roll, but it was nothing special. The swordfish, sashimi platter, salmon and seafood penne were all excellent.

Hi Abbe J!

Thanks for trying us and glad you got an outdoor table without an extreme wait! That's a rarity depending on what time you arrive in the summer time!

We're glad everything you had was to your liking. Regarding price, I'm not sure if you frequent the area, but in general our prices tend to be lower than many of the other local restaurants, and we strive to make sure that every meal is hearty enough so that you're not looking for extra fillers.

Regarding your California roll, we're so sorry for the confusion on the part of your waiter, that should have never happened. Did you speak to the manager re that issue? Please, if you join us again in the future, if something isn't to your liking, please, please, please if the server isn't responsive, please let the manager know. We pride ourself on trying to make every meal count and making all of our customers happy with their choices.

Thanks again for the great review and we hope to see you again in 2013!

Super crowded for a Tuesday night and we had to wait an hour, but well worth it! The views were amazing, the food was delicious...pricey, so I wouldn't make a habit out of it, but definitely worth every penny!

Hi Laura S,

Thanks for taking the trip out from Islip and so glad you enjoyed your meal! We are open seven days a week until Columbus Day so perhaps if you find us out east again before then, you'll be able to have less of a wait. After then, we will still be doing a modified schedule, check out our website for days and times.

If not, thanks for joining us in 2013 and hope to see you next season!

The Inlet restaurant has something for everyone and the food is fabulous. They have expanded their menu from last year and have always offered a sushi bar. Pick a fish dinner, meat plate or sushi. Their is something for everyone.

The food at Inlet Seafood is good and came quickly but the atmosphere is very basic and the place is super loud. There is nothing to absorb sound as they have wood floors with no coverings so the noise level is extreme. The night we were there they had several large tables exacerbating the problem.
The appetizers we had were exceptional- tuna with jalapeño and fluke sashimi. We had both items from the menu and sushi for dinner. The fish tacos were OK- nothing special. The scallops were amazing and the sushi good.
All in all, a decent experience but I wouldn't rush back.

Hi mmcbDenver

Thanks for taking the time to write about your dining experience at Inlet. We're glad you enjoyed your meal and are sorry to hear that the noise level was disappointing for you. Unfortunately with the vaulted ceiling, noise can travel and depending on the night, sometimes it can be a very bustling place. It is hard to control volume sometimes with large parties.

For future reference, a way to ameliorate that would be to come a tad earlier in the evening before the restaurant fills up, grab a table in the bar area or choose a table outside on our deck.

Also sorry to hear that you felt the fish tacos weren't up to your standards. Did you mention anything to your server about them? It's our goal to make sure that every diner has a great experience at Inlet and should you wish to join us again in the future, please let us know if something isn't right so we can make it so. Our goal is to produce memorable dining experiences for all our customers.

Thanks again for your review and we hope to see you again in 2013!

Visited here on my birthday trip to Montauk after some recommendations from several people we met over at Gosman's Dock our first night in town. We went for lunch but I wish now we had gone here for dinner and skipped Gosman's.

I had a killer spicy yellowtail/avocodo roll. also had the fresh blue crab cali roll.

wife had fish n chips and even though we don't do much fried food it was amazing. it was a tempura style batter - really light and crispy and the fish was fresh, flaky, light and cooked perfectly.

really awesome server - wish I could remember her name but very very pleasant, knowledgeable and just the right amount of attention to us during the course of the meal.

we were on the upstairs back outside dining area as close the the harbor entrance as you can get there at the restaurant and it really was one of the most perfect lunches I have had in a very long time. will absolutely go back again and have already recommended to others.

Hi jbs1963

Thanks so much for the great review! Really honored that you spoke so highly of us, and am so glad that you enjoyed your meal from start to finish!

We will be open until just shy of Thanksgiving; We hope you have the opportunity to come back again and join us for dinner! I see you're from Carolina, so perhaps that's not possible, but we really hope you can join us again in 2013 or next summer in 2014!

Have a great day!
