Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course
Attraction details

My husband Larry fell in love with someone other than me. Yes Montauk Downs is a wonderful course. Get there super early, the sun rises earlier here, almost another time zone(like Maine) and get your spot and tee off.
The pool was lovely.
The tennis courts, played there 3 times were awesome!!!! Go and enjoy!!!! The price was right and very very reasonable too!!!

Not for beginners at all. Well run but without any frills at all. For those who love the game, it is a must. Reasonably priced.

Beautiful vistas, a great deal, good for driving practice, exceptional lessons...if you're a golfer and visiting Montauk you must play this course!

Very challenging with elevated greens, lots of bunkers, and lots of wind. The senior citizen discount is great. Reserving a tee time on the automated phone system is a pain and increases the price by $5, not 3 which the recording says.

This is about the most challenging and picturesque golf course on Long Island available to the general public. For the money, yard for yard, green for green, it's about as good as it gets. It is not overly long on paper, but given the ever-present and ever-changing winds, the rough and the changing elevations, it plays a lot longer and harder than many "championship" length courses. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr in the 1960s and then getting a continuing rehab by Rees Jones more recently, it meets the standards of the more competitive golfers. The course superintendent is from the Bethpage complex, so you can expect very well tended greens and tee boxes. The average to high handicap golfer will enjoy the aesthetics of the course but will have to take some real scoring lumps. I've played with golfers at many levels here over the years and I have never been with anyone who didn't enjoy the day. The snack bar is only okay, but the pro shop is excellent.
