“WORTH THE LONG LINES”
Reviewed July 14, 2013 via mobile

I remember when Dave's Grill opened. It was great that finally we had a consistent restaurant with excellent food. Great wine list, dinner selections are all fresh seafood. As well as some meat/pork selections for the non-fish eaters in your party. I remember they use to have the most excellent linguini and white clam sauce (I especially remember the leeks and the light
bouillabaisse broth with the freshest clams - not sure if this is now a special and not on reg menu). Service is professional, which is not always the case on Montauk, most places have a very young transient staff. Dave's Grill set the pace and it's great to see other restaurants followed his lead.

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

After 30 minutes of phone calls, we were able to snag a reservation. It was well worth the time investment...
Mussels appetizer was not only delicious but amazingly presented. Gazpacho with both a dollop of guacamole and a jumbo shrimp was superb. Chopped salads were very good. Pappardelle w lobster brodetto was very good as was the stuffed lobster. The crisp was apple blueberry and could not be passed up.
Atmosphere inside is a bit more sophisticated than the usual Montauk fare...

“Fresh and Creative”

Food was EXCELLENT.. a little pricey but worth it. Use of yogurt in our dessert was brilliant. Couldn't beat the ambiance, natural beach, candles, very simple. We frequent MANY fine restaurants in NYC.. On food alone, Dave's Grill surpasses many...

“4:15pm 100 calls”

The 100 calls are worth the reward...really good food. Julie & Dave consistently provide top notch food and a great atmosphere. The chocolate bag tops it all off!

“Expensive and not worth it”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Dave's Grill is a nice enough restaurant, but very overpriced. The outside area where we waited for our table was very pretty, but once inside the dining area was just ok, and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable. Normally I would not comment on something so trivial as chairs, but since the prices on menu were quite expensive, thought at least they would provide a more comfortable seat. My husband had the grouper, which he said was very good, but the portion was small and only came with a small vegetable relish, he left hungry after paying $38 for his entreee. I had the fish and chips, which was ok, but the fish was overcooked so dry. Our appetizers were both very good, but also pricey. I realize Montauk is overall an expensive place to visit, but the prices charged at Dave's Grill are way to high for the food. Must say the service was excellent, our waiter was very friendly and attentive.
