“Loved it AGAIN”
Reviewed July 22, 2006

My family just had a small reunion at the Beachcomber...I've been there before but they hadn't...we all loved our units...and yes, some are different than others but all of them were in good condition. Our unit had a new air conditioner and sleep sofa. The walk to the beach is really not very long and certainly worth it since the beach is very open...The pool is nice and has a view of the ocean and always has a nice breeze...it's not gigantic, but certainly not tiny! Even if mother nature doesnt cooperate, you won't mind spending some time in these units....give it a try

Maybe every room is different, because everything was brand new in ours. We had a one bredroom, #103. The place was beautifully appointed and the water pressure in the shower was incredible. The pool, while a tad small, was lovely, and walk to the beach was fine. Our toddler walked to the beach every day without any problem. The walk is much shorter than people say on this website.

The staff was exceedingly friendly and the service was always prompt and courteous. The brand new hide-a-bed was very comfortable. My 65 year old mother slept on it very soundly. The air conditioner worked very well. I have zero complaints! It was a great, great stay. We all wish we could've stayed longer. We'll definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed at Beachcomber on Father's Day weekend with our two daughters ages 10& 13. Each unit is individually owned so I am assuming all the great reviews are from the owners. The bed was very uncomfortable and needed to be replaced. The A/C is loud and did not keep the room cool. The bathrooms are old and the water pressure is poor. The kitchen is small but efficient. The pool would be a nice if it was larger to accommodate all the families. Parents need to control their kids around the pool area too! There is no place to BBQ on this property. We bought a small BBQ grill with us and did not know we could not BBQ on the outside deck. We were told to put it out immediately or the fire marshall would fine us $10,000. The beach is across the street but the path to get to the beach is not the greatest walking path for young children or the elderly. You can find a better place for your money and for the rate they charge you could be directly on the beach.

Roomy apartment with great deck, partial oceanview. Awesome value, nice bathroom and pool. Friendly staff. Across the street from the beach.

Bed and couch are not very comfortable, but the privacy of the deck, along with the size of the kitchen and apartment make up for it.

We stayed here at the tail end of our NYC vacation, and it was such a relaxing end after being in the city.

Keep in mind, the drive back through the city is a bear, so you should try to do it at an off time when few other travelers would be leaving long island and at a time when you can avoid crosstown NYC traffic as much as possible.

My husband, daughter and I spent three nights at the Beachcomber in June after the U.S. Open. This resort had been recommended to us by my sister so I knew it would be nice. I must say though, it was better than expected. We arrived early but were able to check in immediately as the room was ready. We were located in the Oceanfront Bldg. overlooking the Atlantic - great view! The room was a large studio-like room with a well equipped kitchen, separate area for the queen size bed and pull-out couch with a table and 4 chairs in the living area. (I have never seen 4 chairs in a motel room before). It was the cleanest oceanfront motel we have ever stayed in. Not an ounce of mildew here! The bathroom was clean as well and had plenty of ammenities. The only thing about the shower was the lack of light with the curtain closed. The resort's grounds were well maintained and the pool was sparkling. Nice lounge chairs with thick pads as well. Towels are provided. There is also a tennis court and you can sign out racquets if you wish. The Beachcomber is also in a great location on the Old Montauk Highway overlooking the ocean. You can walk into town if you like. The beach is a little bit of a pain to get to through the dunes (watch out for poison ivy on the trails) but is nice once you arrive. The staff were also very pleasant. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort and one tip..... stay before June 24th and the rates are fantastic!
