Owner description: Museum Village is a living history museum preserving a vast collection of eclectic, 19th century artifacts for educational purposes. Using these artifacts and reproductions, we provide hands-on experiences and exhibits illustrating the transition from a rural to an industrial culture and economy in America, provoking thought and discussion about history. Exhibits include blacksmith shop, weaving, farm life, candle shop, firehouse, school house, log cabin, energy and the environment and a complete mastodon skeleton (only 1 of 3 in the entire world!). Special events include a Gem & Mineral Show, Summer Tours, Ghost Tours, a Civil War re-enactment (Labor Day Weekend), No Scare Halloween, Thanksgiving Tasting & Christmas In The Village. Check out our website for many more events!

Been a member for many years and took my kids there until grown...I myself first went there over 50 years ago...Sadly the place is underutilized and needs more support....The staff IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL, HELPFUL AND DEDICATED...Love this place...

The Museum Village is interesting since it is historic but there is not that much to see there so I was disappointed. You can easily see the entire village in 1 1/2 hours. I thought the price was somewhat high.

My family used to go here every August. The village reenacts a Civil War battle one weekend in August every year. There are links from the chain that crossed the Hudson River to block the passage of British Ships during the Revolutionary War, candle making, a blacksmith's shop, and candy and souvenir shops. A fun and educational family experience.

Very interesting for adults and kids alike. Fourth of July celebration is especially fun for candle dipping, old fashion races, etc. See a real one-room house from the 1800s and a real pharmacy. See a one-room school house, too and toys from yesteryear! Even mastadon skeleten found in Orange County!

If you want your kids to appreciate how "things used to be" This is a definitively a learning/fun experiences for the whole group. ALOT of field trip...For school Suggestions. Easier for the kids to grasp. And you will learn a few things too?
