We ate here to celebrate something and it was very good. there were 6 of us, and we all liked our entree. There is a fair amount of polish to the dinner experience.

The Inn itself is quite charming; cozy, clean, with lovely manicured gardens. The restaurant has a casual decor, but a formal feel. The servers are serious, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The food is certainly the most inventive in town. The chef has experience in NYC, and was in charge of the kitchen of one of my favorite restaurants, Wallse; he adds Austrian touches throughout the menu, and the execution is delicious. The flavors are deep, focused, and clean. The prix fixe menu, at $30, is a bargain. Plenty of selections here; I had the quark spaetzle and the flank steak, with a cheese course. Portions were plentiful and satisfying. Interesting wine list.

We recently revisited No 9 for perhaps our 6th time. The opening of the porch for dinner provides for a great venue overlooking the front lawn. The menu remains interesting and offers the diner several excellent varied choices.
My wife had the basic salad and the pork 2 ways which she characterized as excellent.I enjoyed the quark spaeztle and monkfish special. While both entrees were well prepared both, were somewhat smaller than what one would expect at the price.
The waitstaff were very pleasant although an apparent turnover resulted in somewhat uneven service and mix up on our bill and other tables.
Despite the aforementioned issues we plan on re-visiting No 9 for No 7.

We tried the prix fixe on our only visit. The Quark Spatzle was outstanding! The grilled Hanger steak was perfect. Grilled Halibut with peas, bacon, wild mushrooms and a carrot-ginger emulsion. Our deserts were Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta along with a tray of three local cheese. A nice selection of wines by the glass. Millerton is a nifty small town. Number 9 is in a beautiful house. Service was the best. I think that the prix fixe at $30 is very good value.
We look forward to our next meal at this very attractive restaurant.

We reserved at Number 9 for a special event -- several hours prior to arrival we were infomed that they lost power. When we arrived, power had been restored and though the service was slow because of the the back-log, the food was great and it was a most enjoyable evening.
