This place was suggested to us as a family dining spot for our stay near Cooperstown. We should have gotten a clue when we found we were the only ones in the restaurant section on a Friday evening. There were a number of locals in the bar area. We looked at a pitiful salad bar and opted for sandwiches. My hamburg was blah, even with mustard and ketchup. I had asked if the burger would have lettuce and tomato and was told, "Yes." Turns out, I was charged extra for lettuce and charged for a poor slice of tomato, as well. I asked why and was told that I had gotten the "deluxe" hamburger. Then, when several minutes went by without our credit cards being returned I became a bit alarmed and checked in the bar area where the waitress was finally working on the credit-card scanner.

My fiance and I took a trip to Cooperstown, NY for a little weekend get-away. My fiance is a huge baseball fan and I'm a fan of food! After checking in to our hotel, the front desk manager shared with us a few local places with some good eats. His first recommendation was the Milford Inn and Restaurant. Not only was it his first recommendation but it's a restaurant that he said customers never returned with negative comments. We had to try it for ourselves and WE WERE NOT AT ALL DISAPPOINTED! With a great deal like a salad bar and fresh homemade soup with every entree, we were hungry and ready to see if this place was what we had heard!

To start, we made our own salad at the bar, they offered every topping you could imagine and in addition to traditional dressings, offered a homemade balsamic vinagrette with a greek twist (from what I learned later it had a delicious 8 spices)! Next up, we had bean and ham soup. A fellow customer explained the soup was heavy but awesome. And it definitely was! A variety of beans, chunks of ham, and potatoes made the soup perfect for the brisk night. For dinner, my fiance had Chicken and Biscuits- and ate every bite! After all we had already eaten! I had Chicken Cutlets with mashed potatoes and gravy and while every bite was worth savoring, I chowed down and HAD to leave some room for dessert. Their cheesecake with strawberries was delish and they even added a side of pineapples for me!

The two brothers who own the Milford Inn and Restaurant were awesome company on a quiet Thursday night. We talked about the Hall of Fame, Cooperstown, and just had a great conversation after dinner. We already had dinner plans for the second night we were in town, but if we didn't - we were without a doubt going to head back to the Milford Inn and Restaurant.

If you're in town (Cooperstown or Milford), these guys offer fantastic freshly cooked food but two brothers who really know how to make you feel at home! My fiance and I are already planning another trip to town for Father's Day Weekend and if we end up booking, we are definitely grabbing dinner here again!
