This Courtyard was very nice. Its room layout was exactly what you'd expect for a Courtyard, although it had nice, high ceilings. The hotel's lobby was very nice -- nicer than most Courtyards. Good location for getting around Middletown.

We have stayed at this hotel before - so we knew the rooms were good. These include a little fridge and microwave - and an actual coffee pot (4 cup). So many hotels nowadays just have those individual serving coffee pod machines - and we like to make a pot of real coffee - we travel with filters etc. The bathrooms are clean and nice - the beds are very comfortable. Theere is a good fitness room, nice pool, etc. The lobby is very nice and the computers are there as well - a nice business center - two computers and a printer. The lobby also has a nice sitting area with a gas type fireplace, and a small bar where you can get a glass of wine, beer etc in the evening. The location is excellent - there are restaurants right next door - including an Outback - where the staff are very friendly.
The best feature by far of this Marriott - is the staff. Excellent management at this hotel. Every member of the staff was super. Very helpful - going out of their way to be kind etc. From Jennifer and Kayli at the front desk - who helped us with restaurant info and more (and Kayli was a fun bartender New Year's), to the wait staff, maid, head of housekeeping - very professional. We like to stay places that have a fridge so we can just have cereal for breakfast and avoid paying for the extra meal - but we broke our rules this past trip. We took the breakfast buffet at the hotel - which was reasonably priced at 9.95 or so weekdays - more on holidays and perhaps weekends. I cannot say enough good things about the chef - Marie Lynn (? I think that was her name). She makes omelets to order and made us some pancakes - she can really cook and is so sweet. There is a good variety in the buffet - where you can get healthy things like fresh fruit, yogourt, oatmeal etc - there are also waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. Those are the usual things you might expect - but for a Northern hotel - I was surprised to find biscuits and grits. These biscuits were the very best I have ever tasted. Super!
When we got home, I realized I left my housecoat in the room - and we called them. The head of housekeeping called me back, was super helpful and is sending the article by mail.
We have stayed at many hotels, and we find so many people who are either rude or just matter of fact etc. It was such a pleasure to have such wonderful people working at this hotel. It made the whole experience a delight.
We highly recommend this Marriott.

I expected more from this hotel. The hotel itself was really nice and clean. Our room was a little tight, but served our purpose of a one night stay.
We stayed here as members of a bridal party of a friends wedding. The bride arranged for gift bags to be given to each guest, which they did not receive. The bride also made prior arrangements to have the bar kept open so the wedding guests could have an after party after the wedding. When we arrived at the bar the server informed us that they would have to close soon. We ended up going to the Friday's that is within walking distance. If it was my wedding I would not want to hang out in Friday's after!
The next morning we were to attend a thank you breakfast in a room at the Marriott. The breakfast left something to be desired. There was cold eggs and some stale bagels.
The hotel itself is nice, so if you don't need any special attention, everything should be fine. But I would not trust this Marriott with any special requests!

We stayed here for one night during a shopping trip to Woodbury Common Outlet Mall from Toronto. We had considered another property closer to Woodbury, but a poster from Trip Adivsor suggested this property, and we were glad to have listened to her advice.

We made online reservations using the hotel's website. We opted for the Shop and Stay package which was only $60 more on top of a regular King bed room. For the extra $60, we got $50 in gift cards for the Outlet, $20 gift certificate for lunch at Thyme to Eat bistro located at the Outlet, and 2 vouchers for the Breakfast buffet at the hotel ($20 value) and a voucher for a free coupon book for the Outlet. So this was well worth the package price!

After a LONG drive from Toronto (almost 8.5 hours vs 7 hours due to horrble construction along I81, we finally arrived at the Courtyard Marriott around 3:00. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and decor of the lobby area. The hotel is a good size with 4 floors. We were checked in rather quickly by a pleasant lady. We observed that there were 2 wedding receptions/parties booked for that night and we asked for a room away from the block of reserved wedding guest rooms. She understood and gave us a nice room on the top floor as the party was staying on the 2nd.

Our room was a good size, and everything seemed new to me. When we walked in, the bathroom was to the right, with a single vanity, toilet and a nice sized shower with a curved shower curtain rod for extra room in the tub area and a granite bench to sit on at one end of the tub. I wasn't too impressed with the toiletiries (only given the standard single bar soap, facial bar soap, small bottle of shampoo and conditioner). Back in the room, there was a small bar fridge and microwave and coffee maker with free coffee. The king bed was comfortable with down pillows (I personally do not like down filled pillows and was not comfortable sleeping on them...2 were too many, 1 was not enough!) There was an armoire/closet, and a desk along the wall which housed the TV. It wasn't very convenient to lie in bed to watch the TV as it was on a severe angle to the bed being on the desk along the wall. The King bed faced the window to the room with a sliding glass window that opened a few inches. There was also a 2 seater sofa and coffee table in the room. I found the AC unit to the LOUD, and could not sleep with it on...we had to turn it off and open the window. We did not hear a peep from our neighbours so I was very pleased with that! We also got a complimentary copy of USA Today.

We used our vouchers for the breakfast buffet. It was a quiet morning and we were the only ones eating at the time. The restaurant area is at the front of the hotel beside the check in area. It was nicely furnished with a large plasma TV in there. The buffet area was well stocked with a good selection of breakfast foods: cereal, fruit, yogurt, various juices, breads, bagels, pastries, make you rown waffles, hot breakfast food selection (bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns,) and a made to order egg station.

After breakfast on our way up to the room to get our bags, we passed the amazing business center!! I just wished I had seen it the day before when we checked in. There were various newspapers (including the Wall Street Journal) for the taking, 2 computers with free high speed internet, a printer, fax machine etc. It was great! I believe there is free internet in the rooms too.

There are 2 restaurants (Outback Steakhouse, TGI Fridays across the parking lot from the hotel, and a Red Robin and a Chili's across the street a little further down. The hotel is located right beside Route 17. Woobury was only 20 minutes down the highway. We peeked in on the pool area which is a standard small rectangular pool.

I highly recommend this as a place to stay if passing through, or going shopping as we did. We will definitely return on our next shopping spree to Woodbury!

We just returned from 2 nights at this Marriott in Orange County, NY. We chose this hotel as it was the "host hotel" for a wedding. There were actually two hotels which the bridal party chose. The other was the Hampton Inn which they said was nearby. Actually the Hampton basically shares the same parking lot. But, as a Marriott Rewards Member we chose the Marriott.

The quality of the room was up to Courtyard standards. The room was clean and the temperature fine. Luckily the King size bed was on the other side of the room from the air conditioning which meant no drafts. The lighting was not great for reading in bed - that's a problem in most hotels now. There is a coffee maker, small refrigerator and microwave in every room.

The hotel has a small pool (60 feet long at most) and a whirlpool. Also exercise room. The lobby is huge with two free Internet access PCs and lots of reading material. There is also a bar which is open in evenings - but not very busy. There are complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby (though there are coffee pots in every guest room) and free cookies in afternoon. Otherwise just a few snacks for sale. The rest of the "lobby" is the "Breakfast area" and this is part of the weakness here and reason for my downgrading my rating. It is open only from about 7-10 am. But it is breakfast buffet which costs $9.995 per person. I asked if I could buy just a bagel and the woman said it was "about $2.95". Meanwhile, all the guests at the Hampton (which was somewhat cheaper) had a FULL breakfast buffet included in their room rate! (The Hampton has a nice outside pool too; but not an inside one or exercise room like the Courtyard). So this made it impractical unless we want to pay a lot for breakfast. As it was, we ended up driving to the next exit (2 miles- Exit 120 on Route 17) for breakfast at McDonalds' or Friendly's. or some other options). Even waiting until lunch, there was a TGIFriday's and a Chilli's across the parking lot but thaey don't open until 11:30am.

Personally, I think folks expect at least Continental Breakfast at most mid-price hotels. Especially when there are no other options within walking distance. I think the Marriott would score a 5 star rating here if they offered it as part of the room rate. So, if you are planning to use the Courtyard by Marriott (versus the Hampton Inn - which is owned by same franchise operator there) I'd stop and bring in some food and hake breakfast in your room. The $9.95 buffet just isn't worth it. On Saturday morning I only saw 2 people eating it., though on Sunday it seemed busier.

Also, if you are heading west on Rt 17 and arrive at hotel, know that there are many dining options as well as a huge Shopping Mall (indoor) and other shopping centers just 2 miles away at exit 120 (Marriott is at 122).
