“good night sleep, friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 30, 2013

We had a three night stay here for a wedding, one of six group of weddings there. The hotel had a peculiar layout and not sure what we would have done in case of emergency. I think it would have been difficult to find a set of stairs close by.The hotel is large and has long hallways. If you have family members who can't walk far, you should make sure you request rooms closer to the lobby. It was a little awkward as a wedding party had their daily breakfast in the middle of the atrium every day, where all of the other guests could view their party. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, probably because there were so many people trying to figure out how to get to the six weddings that were going on near there that weekend. It's not a new place, but since I wasn't staying by the atrium, we got a quiet night's sleep and I gave it a 4 because of the staff

Room Tip: do not stay by the atrium if you can't walk well, make sure you aren't at the end of one of...

we staid for 3 nights for a wedding. We "moved" in with our 6 month old twins and arrived late at night after driving in. the staff was very very helpful and always friendly regarding requests. we did order room service breakfast which was great; room service lunch was okay. when I called to request our room be near a family member's room they were accommodating and when I mentioned we had twin boys and would like to be in a quieter area, they moved us away from the pool. they had a shuttle service that would take you to nearby places to run an errand (a friend of mine needed to stop by a convenience store and they took her their and back). felt that the room was updated enough. there is a mini fridge, but isn't that powerful, but they have a full fridge behind the front desk that they will store stuff for you - we had freezer/cooler packs that needed re-freezing and they happily did this for us.

Room Tip: choose a room that does not face the atrium for natural daylight and more quiet.

Within the first 10 seconds I walking in we could tell that we had made the right choice to stay. We were greeted with a very friendly concierge who gave us free cucumber & lemon infused water while we checked in. Pool was amazing. Rooms were average. I think the best part of this hotel is the customer service you'll receive from the employees!

Layout - many of the rooms face the atrium in the middle of the hotel - you have a sliding glass door to the atrium but you can't get there through the door. You feel like you are in a fishbowl. If there are any kids playing in the indoor pool you hear everthing through the door. The front desk staff could not direct us to a place that was open for breakfast (other than Starbucks). We paid over $150 per night in the middle of March - slightly overpriced for the location and date. The hotel was clean and conveniently located which is why I rated it average and not poor.

Stayed here for business thank god only one night. Hotel needs renovations and upgrading the rooms should first on the list. Bed was comfortable but bathroom was so small it wasn't even large enough for one person. Gym was decent and bar was ok. Would not stay there again though. Definitely not worth $279 for one night.

The Melville Mariott Long Island has a wonderful open feel to it's lobby area. The common areas are clean and there is a wifi signal available at no charge on the first level of the hotel. There is a nice bar that is 'kid friendly' and besides bar food you can order off the regular dinner menu, and the staff will bring it to the bar. Rooms are large, clean and well stocked with toiletries. The on site restaurant is okay, nothing special, but the food is adequate. Breakfast is buffet style and there is a lot to choose from.

Room Tip: Try a room on the first floor so you can jump on to the wifi signal

The price is a little high, relatively speaking - but I was able to get a reasonable week-end rate, which made it possible to stay here. The doormen, front desk people and the guys behind the Atium bar were very freindly.
The room was comfy, the bed was great. Bathroom was a little small but everything was clean, which is always my biggest concern. Internet access was fine, although they charge for it if you're not a member of their rewards program.
I had a hambrger and a drink at nthe Atrium bar, it was very good. I was also able to take advantage of breakfast in the concierge lounge, was added value to my stay.
The concierge lounge isn't open on Saturdays, so I had breakfast in the on site restaurant - which I had to hunt for, as it isn't well marked and not really marketed well around the hotel.
The fitness room is very nice with 5 treadmills, a couple cycles, a weight machine and more. The indoor pool looked very nice as well.
While this hotel is very nice, it's showing its age a little, and isn't the nicest Marriott I've ever stayed in. And as previously stated, the price is a little out of whack making it a marginal value.
I had to ask 3 times for a corrected bill - once at check out, and twice by phone - before they finally sent it. That was annoying and hopefully not the norm.
Overall you can expect a nice stay if you're willing to pay what they are asking.
