“Heading back for a 3rd year!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

We are heading back for our 3rd season of camping at Wildwood Lake. We have 6 children under the age of 7 and Wildwood Lake has endless entertainment...from the Lake, to the "jumping pillow", creek walking, riding on the golf carts, mining for gems, the pool, game room, fire truck rides, planned activities, etc. We tent camp each year and have always had decent sites and friendly service. My only complaint is that we wish the firetruck rides could be every night and not just on Saturdays!

We originally planed to stay two nights on our way home from the Keys. There are several attractions near by and this seemed to be centrally located for seeing the area. We didn't stay the second night and could not wait to get out of this KOA.
The rv park was VERY over crowded. It seems like there are a lot of permanent residents. The sites are very difficult to pull through and pull out of. We could not open our awning as it would touch the camper next to us even without fully extending it. Yeah, that close! The sites are all mud. No cement pad, just narrow strips with hookups in the mud. Very substandard. I can only guess it was crowded because of its location along the interstate. You should only consider this place to pull into if you are exhausted and need to get off the highway but otherwise don't even consider it.

We camped here over labor day weekend 2013. Overall experience was so so. They had many activities for the kids and some for the adults. Kids enjoyed the pool which is was to small for such a large campground. Rented row and paddle boats and took the kids fishing which they enjoyed. Camp store has everything you need including overpriced bundles of wood $6.50. Kids loved playing and floating in the creek. We stayed at site 253 or 235 in the back and when we got there there was quite a bit of garbage all over the site and a ton of broken glass. We obviously had to clean up the glass as we had several kids with us. There was even more broken glass behind our site directly where we would walk through to go to the bathroom. All of the roads and our site were all dirt which makes things pretty dusty. We had to wash everything when we got home. We opted to leave a night earlier as the weather forecast was calling for rain and if our site received a splash of rain it would turn into a mud pit. The showers and toilets were another story. Near the back where we stayed they only had two male and two female showers which meant you kindof had to plan ahead. Most of the people at the campground are seasonal so they have there own facilities so not a huge hurry probably about a 15 minute wait or so. The showers and toilets overflowed several times which even though it was a busy weekend this should never happen. I have never experienced this before and we camp about 4 times a year for 4 years now always at different places. Now as far as your neighbors. As stated most of the people there are seasonals so they have their own little clicks which is quite apparent as soon as you get there. Didn't meet to many rude people but it is obvious. Lots of drinking and partying from the neighbors and lights out is at 11pm and they go right up to then so no early nights. A fight almost broke out the second night at the neighbors with someone threatening to pull out a knife (alcohol probably had nothing to do with this). Constant golf carts buzzing along the roads all the way up to 12:30 in the morning. Our site cost $45 a night which is ridiculous for the nonsense that you had to put up with. Almost every site has electric so be prepared for music and bright lights most of the night. You go camping to relax have fun with the kids, hang out with new neighbors, relax, and get away from the everyday. Pretty tough to do that here. This was our first KOA and I would never go back here again.

We stayed from July 27, 2013 through August 4th in the L section (a pull-through gravel site). The site was very small. We did not venture into the 'back' of the campground. We traveled with two other couples and between us there were seven children who rode their bikes around the 'circle', went to the arcade, swam in the pool, played on the beach, swam in the lake, played in the playground, jumped on the jumping pillow, rode in the paddle boats and went fishing. From their perspective, they had a really great time. It rained occasionally during our stay and yes the roads did get muddy but you prepare for this, at least we did. Not all campgrounds have paved roads. We all felt the amenities were great. I did get Wi-Fi at my trailer although it was a little slow. We felt the staff was very friendly and helpful and we saw the owners working on upkeep every day during our stay. I do feel the pool was too small for the campground, but during the week, it was large enough to accommodate everyone nicely. It just got crowded on the weekend. When that happened, we just took the kids over to the lake. All in all, we had a great time and so did the kids. We were about an hour away from Niagara Falls so we incorporated a visit there during out stay.

This KOA appears to be unable to drain water, both rainwater and sewer from its own toilets and baths. That made it an unpleasant experience to stay there.

Furthermore, activities for the kids were not properly communicated. This caused our kids to miss out on the candy bingo on our 3-day stay.

The pool is very small for such a large campground.

The jumping pillow was popular.

What a mess. Granted it rained a lot however there is no excuse for 3" of water on ALL the sites in our row. The staff did come to pump the water out but never came back to fill in the giant holes they made. The field was a flooded mess to walk the dog. The seasonal sites were a disaster! Not all but most. I can't believe the owner allows abandon trailers to sit like that. On to the pillow pad. No gymnastics AT ALL. Seriously why bother having something like that. Office not friendly.
We camp every weekend and this place goes in the record book for one of the worst.

The staff was friendly and the front of the campground looked very nice, which was deceiving. Many of the best camp sites were occupied by "seasonal" old, worn out looking trailers. The few sites with electric were a bit scary since the electrical lines were just twined down tree trunks and a wonder to my husband that they worked. We were there with a popup camper. The roads were dirt, no gravel or paving, and it rained the whole time we were there. The roads were deep mud, and the lawns were mostly under water, so walking to the bathroom was not an option. There wasn't any parking at the bathroom/shower. The bathrooms were fairly clean, but very old and cabinetry was coming apart. The showers were okay. I would not choose to return. It just wasn't the kind of place that makes you want to go back if you are a camper.

Room Tip: The cabins looked like they would be very nice, by the lake and new.
