We found this little place thanks to Tripadvisor. It's in an old general store; some of the shelving from those days is still there, along with the woodstove and wooden floors. Great historical atmosphere! Furniture is very eclectic and totally unmatched. As we waited for our breakfast and while we ate, it was interesting to note how many people from various walks of life came in for coffee and muffins to go - plumbers, businessmen, Mennonites, farmers.
The menu is limited, but our English muffin egg sandwiches were served with excellent fresh fruit - all delicious!

For area residents that endure winters that average more than 200 inches of snow, the proprietors of Stedman's Corners are very accommodating. On a number of occasions they have made special arrangements for area residents in need of a place to meet. They now host the monthly: "Birthday Breakfasts" as well as the "Men's Breakfasts" for the residents of the CHQ area. This fall and winter they will occasionally host the Friday bowlers for dinner. The individually prepared meals are made from the finest ingredients, are attractively presented, and on this occasion the "Reuben" was delicious.

I was visiting some friends in the area and they had heard that the food was good at this cafe so one day we went for breakfast. It was so excellent that two days later we went for dinner. Four excellent meals again.

This is the kind of place we LOVE to discover. It's in a ratty OLD building in the middle of nowhere that has been minimally renovated with mostly paint but also a great eye and a minimalist mindset. When you walk in you are struck by the fact that a restaurant is even in this structure. Breakfast was a 10 with everything served being the best ingredients and cooked to fine restaurant perfection. Honestly, I was amazed at the food quality. So we decided to come for dinner served Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. Again, four great dishes and we couldn't stop raving about the whole experience.

If I were anywhere within striking distance to this place it would be a regular. Go out of your way to try this. We were there out of season and there were very few people in the restaurant both times we ate there.

Our adventure takes a stop at the corner of State Routes 302. 76 and 53.

We had soups, salads and sandwiches that were very filling, and fairly well-priced.

The cafe is a restaurant, museum (as it was an old General Store) and a little art shop. They also sell coffee beans, and I had Chautauqua blend, a local. That was a good blend.

This is a very quiet corner. All the highways that meet here are one-lane ones, and there is rarely traffic. It would be nice to sit outside too and spend lunch. Across on one side of the corner is a farm store, and on the other side is a home made ice cream store.

The atmosphere is very relaxing if you want to take a break from a long drive, which in this part of New York State would be expected.

This place is 5 minutes from Chatauqua Institution, and maybe 10-15 to Mayville Downtown. It's probably 5 minutes off I-86, which I thought was a very convenient location.

Highly recommended!

Pleasant personal service, good hot coffee and iced mocha, very nice atmosphere. Worth going a little out of your way to get there.
