Ocean or Bay, great place to play. The younger set tends to gravitate to the eastern side of the Ocean area and the families gather more to the west and bay side. Two restaurants with cocktails on the bay side and lots of things to keep the young kids happily occupied. A great beach!

The TOB Tobay beach is a great find. If you can't stand the sketchy crowds of Jones Beach, you may want to pay the exorbitant weekday fees to get in because the beach has two great restaurants, and a great snack bar right on the ocean that's huge. The beach itself is super clean and made up of middle class Massapequan and South Shoreans, if you get my drift. Badabing.
But no riff raft, again if you get my drift. The only tattoes you'll see are on the lower backs of the teens and their young mothers. Great people watching. The snack bar offers a large array of food and is a tremendous wooden structure directly on the beach facing the ocean. Across from the ocean, on the opposite side of the parking lot and directly on the Great South Bay, are two very hip restaurants, that serve food and cocktails bay front. There is also a giant boat marina at Tobay and it's always full. The downside of this whole thing is that for non Town of Oyster Bay residents, the fee to get in during the week is $40.00 bucks cash. And you aren't even allowed in on the weekends. If you are just going for the two bayside restaurants, you tell them at the gate and they will direct you to a special parking area, and they watch to see if try to sneak into the beach. The bayside also has a very cool water park type playground for young kids which is located right next to the food joints, as well as a miniature golf course.

Off season take a ride and watch amazing kite surfers do their tricks. Great bay and ocean beaches. Walk miles on flat sandy beach and marvel at nature.
Long Island has many amazing beaches and this one is up there with the best.

been going there all my life and have had memorable moments , first with parents, then friends, thenreunions. The beach had been bombarded by hurricaines over the years and has less of a walk to the sand. In the last 20 years or so, since they have redone the concession that was demolished by Gloria - they have the food areas onthe other side of the highway and added better showers etc.and food options. The vistas are beutiful and you can walk along the beach to other beaches and watch the surfers.local permit only - which keeps large tour bus groups away - so it is more peaceful

Great ocean beach. I worked there in the early 1970's as lifeguard. Still in great shape, have not seen since Hur. Sandy. Love the place and the memories
