I'm not a big fan of the sugary wines of NYS; It was recommended to visit this winery by friends. I was disappointed on different levels. I was travelling with an individual in near of handicap assistance; there were no signs for parking; the parking was park whereever causing some confusion and the wines for $8 a tasting were unimpressive. The atmosphere of the wines, fall weather, mountain views and very nice winehost (plus a winery dog) were nice.

Best local wine in the valley. The views are great. It's rarely crowded and you can take your time and enjoy talking with the staff.

A smaller tasting room, but good wine. The real experience includes the view of the Hudson River Valley. We were allowed to picnic on the grounds. Not a fancy place, but worth a stop.

We visited on a Tuesday afternoon while traveling home from a long weekend in the Berkshires. I called ahead to learn that they are open daily and provide wine tasting and picnic facilities but no food. So we stopped on the way to pick up our picnic lunch. Wine tasting was enjoyable (they let us share the tasting of 6 wines for one small fee which was later applied to the cost of the wines we purchased). The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the wines are all good tasting. We especially like their whites and the sweet catawba. Benmarl wines are to us a cut above those we have tasted elsewhere this year, including in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. While the kindly gentleman in charge packed the bottles we purchased, we opened a bottle and made our picnic at a table out back overlooking the beautiful hudson valley and the Benmarl vinyards. What a spot (photo attached). We are sure to go back. Benmarl is a convenient stop off the the NYSThruway while driving past New Paltz or off the Thruway or I-84 while driving past Newburgh. Don't miss it!

Very pleasant experience thanks to its unpretentious ambiance & kind and thoughtful tasting host. The fellow serving just let you taste the wine and didn't lecture. The tasting was $10 if you wanted to take home - get this - a clean glass (not the one you were tasting from). There are places to sit and have a picnic, or just wander the property and enjoy the views with a glass of wine that you can purchase for $5.
