Le Bamboo Hotel & Restaurant
Ranked #17 of 19 Mahebourg B&B and Inns

There is no Cleaniness in rooms and in toilets. Mosquitos will be there.
Rooms are very small. Bed are very uncomfortable.
TV and Internet(wifi) is not working in your room.
AC is working.
Wooden partition so noise level is very high.
You can check mail only in dining room.
There is not any restuarent.
You have to take food only in family dining room.
In breakfast, only jam bread or omlette after waiting half an hour.
That expereince was not good.
In this rate you will get very good hotels with good facitlity.
This hotel is good for female because family is nice.
But still it is expensive as compare to other.

What an amazing two weeks I spent at this hotel. I've been on the road for almost seven months now and stayed at dozens of hotels - Le Bamboo is still my favorite. This is the place to stay if you are looking for an authentic experience on this beautiful island. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, Le Bamboo allows you to interact with the locals and get a true sense of how they live.

The hotel owner, his wife, and three children made me feel like I was part of their family.

The hotel is just a five minute walk from the waterfront and weekly Mahebourg market.

We booked Le Bamboo on a website because it is close to the airport and offers resonably priced transfers too.

Upon arrival our host was a noshow even though we had agreed with him to pick us up at 5.30a.m. the previous evening. We called him and seemingly got him out of bed but he was friendly an showed up some 20 minutes later.

When we arrived at the house we were told that all upstairs bedrooms are sold out and were given the hosts and his wifes private bedroom (!!). This is right next to their kids rooms and we had to cross the lively living room to get to the bathroom which we shared then with at least 5 family members. In this very living room also all other guests get together - its breakfast, dinner and community room - so be prepared for noise.

The bedroom was full of private stuff, the bed not clean. The bathroom was a disaster, dirty, no toilet paper, no shower head, private clothes and nappies on the floor...

The family is nice and friendly, but thats the only good thing we can say about Le Bamboo. After our holiday we now know that it is also very expensive compared to similar hotels.

After 2 days we left and we were glad to do so.

I have never had a better travel experience since I began seriously traveling in 1968. We stayed a total of 5 different nights while visiting Madagascar, Reunion, the Seychelles and Mauritius (Oct 30-31, Nov 3, 6, and 8).
The family immediately made us one of them, taking us on evening rides to the beach, to swimming lessons for the children on Sunday and we ate all our dinners with them. My 24 year old son is a Vegan and every meal was to his standards and the food was among the most tasty that we have ever had and much more than we could possibly eat. They continually offered beverages during the day and offered lunch and breakfast as well.
The mini-hotel has extremely clean rooms with private bathroom and shower and the air conditioning was superb. Our rates were extremely reasonable and included the meals, and best of all transportation to and from the airport. These people actually enjoy every minute of interaction with the tourist and succeed in making you feel like you are really part of their family.
A very good way to sum up the unlimited possibilities would be our trading a full tank of gas for four hours of out of the way sightseeing. I was about to rent a car (which we had done for our initial arrival) and Pravind, the owner said that the rental was too expensive, he even offered his car.
I think that my son and I enjoyed this experience the most of our joint visits to more than 100 countries together.
They also had wireless internet which my son was most impressed with.
I would highly recommend staying with these people since they really understand that tourists need to really understand the country that they are visiting. No one in the world will do a better job. I would return for a month, one visitor had schedules a couple days and ended up staying several more. An experience like this only comes along once in a lifetime. Thanks again to the most wonderful family that we have ever stayed with, and we have stayed in other similiar facilities and never felt like part of the family, just another tourist to be put up with. Also another fantastic item that I almost forgot was that (a month trip to Africa and the Indian Ocean) we left our backpacks and other travel gear with the family. They even let us keep our travel items in our room the night that we went to Reunion on November 7th even though we were not even in Mauritius.and we departed the 9th of November. Traveling to the other three countries was so easy since we had very little luggage and didn't have to worry about weight limits with the local airlines. I would recommend this location for anyone wanting to explore the countries of the Indian Ocean.
