“Quality steak restaurant in the all inclusive package.”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

Honeymooned here in July 2012. OMG I can still taste the steak from the steak restaurant. I've travelled all over the world and this hotel is in my top 2 for all inclusive food. The specialist steak restaurant actually feels like you're in a restaurant - no buffet, proper a la carte service.

When we arrived, our room wasn't ready for an hour, so the hotel gave us a free upgrade to a sea view room. Lovely 4 poster bed, really enjoyed our 2 week stay there.

The hotel is located on it's own beach with good snorkelling just off the right of the beach. Finally saw a crown of thorns starfish here, which I'd never seen in 10 years of snorkelling around the world. Take the hotel snorkelling trip one afternoon and ask to go snorkelling where the underwater statues are in the bay.

The hotel is located next to the best snorkelling spot in Mauritius, a short £3 taxi ride away. It's possible to charter you own small boat whilst you're there, which I did for £5 for an hour, well worth it.

Do talk to the beach traders and visit the Lion sanctuary on the north east side of the Island where you can go on a quad bike safari.

Will definitely go back, probably for our 10 year anniversary trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a free upgrade, especially if your room isn't ready!

My husband and I visited over the New Year. Arrived with no personal greeting, which was fine. Reception staff pleasant, luggage taken to room (we were in Rm 429, Penthouse Suite) and we followed with a staff member. Lovely spacious room overlooking the sea, clean and cool.
The beach was clean and plenty of loungers, (like the flag system for drinks). Food was really good, ate at main restaurant and one meal at Charka's (a must), two meals at Tappa's (also really good). The service in the main restaurant was a concern as we were seating ourselves 99% of the time as we were ignored and then to get table cleared or drinks was a bit of a problem. The restaurant was not overly busy but staff would walk right by you or just look at you, not impressed!
Service at Charka's was excellent and presentation of food was unbelievable, a definite MUST if you stay, an all inclusive package is much better and cheaper in the long run as prices are pretty high. Cocktails were limited but enough to choose from, enjoyed the Cocaloca very much.
We were stuck for a few days due to a Level 1 Cyclone warning but I made use of the Ylang Spa as our Catamaran Cruise was postponed. The staff and service at spa was excellent and professional, highly recommend it.
Cat Cruiser went to Ixl Aux Cerfs the day before we left and we had a lovely time on the boat as well as the island (was a little crowded), lovely bbq (braai) on boat before we disembarked on island for a 2 hour stay then back to the hotel. I prefer a little more rougher cruise but we were in such shallow water and there was hardly any wind so the motor was used most of the time.
New years eve party on beach right near our chalet was great, we could hear the music but it was not so intense that we couldn't sleep, the chalet was very quiet actually.

Would go again.

Room Tip: Seaview room the best, higher floors also good

Our very recent trip to Mauritius was simply superb, and this was as a direct result of the dedicated, kind, sympathetic and enthusiastic staff of Preskil Beach Resort.

This was a special trip for my Wife and I, celebrating a significant Birthday, our 5th Wedding Anniversary and a Renewal of Vows Wedding Ceremony. Although we were markedly delayed by a Cyclone (approximately 36 hours), the Hotel Managment were sympathetic towards this and made our stay as special as possible.

The variety in Food, the pristine Beach, gardens, swimming pools were testiment to the dedicated and yet happy Staff.

The management were excellent. There is a great amount more we would like to stay, however we wanted to post this as soon as possible. We have travelled a great deal, and have to say the attitude and service provided simply required a special, prompt commendation.

We would definately visit again, as soon as possible!

Room Tip: If you are in the Deluxe Penthouses, we would reccomend rooms 426 and 427 (the proximity to the beac...

My friend and I have just returned from Mauritius. We stayed at Le Preskil Beach Resort and we loved it. Close to the airport, but no noise, beach view from our room and the food was excellent every day, every meal. Not much to do in the evenings and the tv channels were limited, although if one loves football, no problem. More football than is shown in the UK!! People don't travel all that way to watch tv of course, but we were there during a cyclone (first serious one in 10 years!). There are plenty of things to do on the water after the cyclone and we thoroughly enjoyed our Le Preskil catamaran one-day trip. The housekeeper staff were excellent and I left my rings in the room after we checked out and they were brought to me by the Duty Manager having been handed in by the housekeeper. We had lots of massages and reflexology which were magnificent. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Just one more thing - the internet doesn't work during cyclones!

Room Tip: I'd ask for an upstairs room or a bungalow overlooking the beach. Only two floors.

We spent 1 week @ preskil hotel in mauritius and in total we have to say that it is an average hotel to relax but nothing more.
The wonderful sea view from the cottage is terrific and the free activities like canoeing, paddleboat, windsurfing etc is wonderful and also try the gym with its new machines.

The buffet food in the morning and evening is ok but nothing special, with less variations, so better try to reserve once a table in the tapas or steak restaurant, its lovely.
The prices for drinks especially alcohol is high but as you know this is an island and everything must be imported:)

Room Tip: try the prestige cottages with higher room numbers to have the best privacy and sea view....

We arrived at Preskil intending to stay 3 nights - we ended up staying 10 nights.

The advantages of the hotel is that it is close to the airport, it is a 4 start hotel with 5 star service, close to Mahebourg where you get a 'real feel' for Mauritian culture, free watersports, and plenty of smiles and ambiance around the resort.

The main disadvantage is that is not close to 'more touristy area's', good shops and restaurants.

I am sure you will enjoy the resort - the facilities are good and no request is difficult for the staff. Their cheer and smiles add to the overall experience.

Review for Jan 2011. We were Wed here and i can not fault this hotel. A 2 week AI staying in a deluxe pent house suite. Super clean, food fantastic, staff wonderful. Nikita the wedding planner was fantastic. The lagoon is Heaven! Ever since getting home i've dreamt of returning! Location perfect, no plane noise yet very close to airport so able to leave hotel very last minute. The island has terrible traffic q's for hotels on the west/ north & you can easily sit for 1-2 hours.
Sadly had to go to hospital & have an op/ over night stay whilst there, but the support from the hotel staff in my recovery was lovely.
We did a couple island excursions with a guide- just paid for a day with them. You get the most personal touch this way, would recommend.

We are very well travelled, so from our experiences: Critiques nothing to do with the hotel! Traveled with Kuoni, i wouldn't really rate them as a tour operator just a means to get to and from destination! Air Mauritius, we had an older aircraft flying out- honestly i' say it was comparable to easy jet but long hall! Seats tiny (I'm 5ft6 size 10!) so uncomfortable, entertainment didn't work-fortunately had heard this was the case so took iPad. Staff shocking- literally 4 staff for whole economy cabin! Couldn't face flying home after op in economy so we ended up paying to upgrade to business....my God what a difference! could't fault it. 4 staff for whole of business. The fact is we'd paid a a small fortune in the first place so we shouldn't have had to spend more.
