“Clean old school motel on the water”
Reviewed September 4, 2010

Great 70s style motel tucked away down a quiet road but only a 5 minute walk to town. Large comfortable rooms. Great amenities like mini-fridge, microwave, ping-pong, billiards, paddle boats, canoes, and private beach with hammocks. Can lay there, relax, and watch the sun set over Long Lake. Very clean. We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer.

Our family rented two cabins and stayed for a week. I can not say enough great things about the location, the cabins and the owners. They are extrodinary people who have put so much effort into making everyones vacation memorable. There is not a detail to attention that has been spared. All the extras that are available to you are priceless. If you were to find fault in anything with this establishment, you must have something wrong with you!! It is our new favorite place and will return again and again.

Our family of 4 stayed in late July for 3 nights. The rooms are good-sized and the beds were comforable. The bathroom is on the small side, but everthing was incredibly clean. It isn't a luxury hotel by any means, but the price is certainly right. The staff was friendly and efficient. During a rainy afternoon we used the game tables in the Gazebo -- a valuable bonus for this place.

There are several kayaks and canoes for use on first-come basis. Boat usage is an incredible value; renting kayaks would have increased the cost of the trip. The chairs on the covered patio at the end of the building offer a nice place to view the lake. Hammocks and lounge chairs are also on the beach. No need to bring your own chairs.

Though the sea planes (I think there are 3 total) are docked just across an inlet near the Motel, the planes don't fly very often. They're noisy for a brief time, but we enjoyed watching them. They didn't fly at night.

We climbed Castle Rock to view Blue Mountain Lake, and went to Buttermilk Falls. These are easy forrays into the Adirondacks for non-hikers.

Dinners at the Adirondack Hotel and the Cellar (don't be fooled by the bland exterior) were good. Avoid the Long Lake Diner if it's crowded at dinner time! We waited a full hour for food, which was not hot when served and wasn't very good to boot.

Lack of cell phone service was a bonus for us. We truly were able to get away from it all! (But we did use the free Wifi on the laptop to find hiking spots.)

My husband and I stayed here Labor Day weekend in 2009 for a night on our drive up to the St. Regis Canoe area. It's a quaint place with great vintage charm. You can't beat the location, right on the lake! The rooms are no frills and cabin-like. The best part is the screened in porch that looks right out into the woods. Very romantic. The bathroom could have been better but you can't expect much this deep into the Adirondacks. We wish we could have stayed longer to take advantage of all the place had to offer.

You really couldn't ask for better. The cabins and the grounds were just fantastic. A dishwasher and microwave in a cabin in the woods? We enjoyed this place more than the Helmsley Park Place in NYC. Bring some food because the restaurants are few and can be crowded. A++.

We've stayed in most of the places in Long Lake and this is by far the nicest. The owners put a lot of work into keeping it clean and neat - where else would they rake the gravel in the driveway/parking lot every day? They do get a lot of families with small children but it was surprisingly quiet at night, even on Labor Day weekend. We stayed in a motel room - if you're looking at one of the cabins just keep in mind that they are very close together. Also be aware that there are no phones in the rooms and no cell service - just one pay phone in a booth outside.

I am so glad that the new owners are the new owners. They have spent so much time and money into redoing the entire place.
We have been going to Long Lake for 20 years and never stayed there. I always thought that the place was dated.
We took a chance this year, and I am SO GLAD that we did.
The service was great. My son lost a bit of medical equipment in the room and everyone helped look for it.
I loved the idea that you could use there canoes and kayaks for free. We all took a go at them.
The motel view were great. We had rooms 17 & 18.
Our resverations are made for next year. Actually this year we are taking 3 rooms.
