Review of Boro Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 28, 2015
Stayed at the Boro hotel for 2 nights to attend a wedding on the upper east side. Hotel could not be more convenient to Manhattan. As a former New Yorker it had the urban chic vibe I was looking for without the cramped feel of a New York hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable and be sure to not miss the continental breakfast. The views and balcony are worth the stay by itself. You will not be able to find anything better in New Yrok City. Staff was also super helpful----will definitely come again.

I recently stayed at The Boro Hotel for a roadshow / work trip. The place is absolutely stunning and has been designed to perfection. The staff were all friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I was sick one night and "Carlito" offered to go to the drug store and buy Thera Flu for me! As promised, the hotel is only a few subway stops from midtown Manhattan. I was able to get to meetings faster than if I had stayed in another neighborhood in Manhattan. In addition, it is about 10-15 minutes (w/ out traffic) to La Guardia. When I visited the bar was not fully up & running, but my understanding is that is coming.

Room tip: The rooms with City view are a must!

Positive: clean, amazing views, quiet area, close to the subway, free wifi
Negative: lack of amenities, no minibar, no kettle, only one bedside table, one bathrobe, no wardrobe, no drawers for clothes

To be honest, I found it overpriced. I guess you are paying the views.... But thats it. For a couple of days its ok but if you are staying longer.. Where are you supposed to keep the clothes!? Also, it is really annoying to not have bedside table when sharing the room.. I had to leave my pills on the floor ... ... I guess they are saving on furniture.

200$ deposit per night is requested..... I know this is a normal procedure in most places but.... If there is no minibar, no restaurants inside the hotel, etc.... What is this supposed to cover? What can we destroy in the room? The bed? There is not much more that that.... Make sure they do not leave you credit card below 0 when they do all the preauthorizations (-DO NOT WORRY WE ARE JUST CHECKING THAT THERE IS MONEY IN YOUR CARD-) It is not weird to find guests complaining because they found they took 5000$ from their cards.

It is great to have complimentary breakfast and we appreciate it but it would be great to have a better variety from one day to another.... One week having the same..... By the way the hot chocolate they made was the best i had in my trip.

The area where they storage the luggage when you cannot have the room is open and anyone can take others suitcases....

Staff... Execept a greek lady and a south american at the reception who were friendly, helpful and caring... The others were really useless. I could not believe it when I saw the woman in her fifties who thinks she is still twenty blowing kisses to another guest. But in general I think these employees are not as professional as a hotel like this one (that pretends to be expensive and exclusive in a way) should be. Eating croissants and drinking tea while talking to guests. . . . . .

Anyway, stay there, it is clean at least but do not expect a lot.

P.S. Someone should have thought about the design of the annoying showers.

Stayed at the Boro Hotel for three nights recently.
Firstly, the decor and design of the whole place from the lobby to the rooms was very chic which contribute to the overall hip vibe through out the property. Our room had a astounding view of the New York City skyline and the 59th street bridge. The beds were incredibly comfortable as were the pillows. The staff was very friendly and very eager to ensure we got everything we needed. The neighborhood is clean and safe and very convenient to get into Manhattan. Don’t miss the breakfast in the morning and definitely take the opportunity to snap some pics from the rooftop!!

First class hotel with first class service. It is 500m to the subway where there are 5 stops to Times Square. I chose this hotel to get away from the hustle bustle of Manhattan and also to have nice views and this hotel did not disappoint. We had a great dialogue with the hotel by mail leading up to the trip and the service itself continued for the 4 nights we were there. Always helpful when needed and also regular contact with us during our stay to ask if there was anything we needed or that they should change.
The room was a nice size with floor to ceiling windows that made the view even better. The bed was one of the most comfortable i have ever slept in for a hotel. Nice sized bathroom with good beauty products, although the placement of the taps for the shower and open end are not very practical.
The continental breakfast was an added free bonus, but we would have preferred som more savoury products such as cheeses and cold meats.
Good standard Wifi throughout the whole hotel.
Tips - book this hotel if you want the best option overlooking Manhattan. Get a room as high up as possible. Use the staff for any questions before and during your stay, as it will enhance your stay. Eat at Dutch Kills Centraal, good quality and atmosphere.

I've stayed in the Boro Hotel more than once since its opening and can honestly say you won't find a more beautiful, industrial and private hotel in the area. The spotless atmosphere combined with its stellar staff truly make this hotel unlike any other. The views are amazing, the roof view is perfect day or night, and with the smaller than normal staff- you will not get the personalized experience anywhere else. I truly recommend this place to any and all people looking for a wonderful stay. Be sure to thank Vivian for you stellar room service- she is THE BEST!

Room tip: Not a bad room in the place
