Il Falco is easily the best Italian restaurant in LIC, and one of the best restaurants in the area, period.
The small dining room almost seems over-staffed with tons of guys in tuxedos, and the over-the-top service is easily recognizable to anyone who has ever eaten at an old school Manhattan Italian restaurant such as Il Mulino.
The food is top notch. There are many "best I've ever had" dishes here, such as the rack of lamb with a Dijon mustard crust, the veal chop topped with sage, and the branzino baked in sea salt. All meals begin with freshly-made bruschetta and end with homemade limoncello and biscotti, all of which are complimentary. If you're lucky, you might even get to sample their fried zucchini tossed with garlic and olive oil, which is always a treat.
All pastas are homemade and are assembled table-side right before being served. My personal favorites include the black squid ink noodles with bay scallops, shrimp and grape tomatoes as well as the lobster tagliatelle with a light tomato sauce and touch of cream.
End your meal with the flourless chocolate cake (which is incredibly dense and intense), the ricotta cheesecake or the tiramisu, all of which are fantastic.
To really experience the best they have to offer, don't bother with the menu: listen to the captain describe all of their specials and just pick the ones that sound good to you. You can't go wrong.
