$45 for a la carte' strip steak, that was < 6 oz and quite fatty. Had asparagus that was swimming in salty soup. "Naked" oysters were placed on crackers with awful dressing. Waiter was un-attentative and quoted no tip, but noted "hospitality" charge.

The menu at M. Wells. Steakhouse. is hardly what you would expect. By my count, there were only 2 steak dishes on the menu, and then there was duck, scallops, trout, chicken, pork chops (on special), and a few other items. The decor is welcoming and interesting, with an open kitchen to watch from most of the tables. The food and ingredients were high quality, and locally sourced, with the caveat that the chef on the night we were there was pretty heavy-handed with the salt. The result was that my duck leg and my husband's pig's head (yes, another option), both tasted quite similar, largely due to the salt content. Desserts were excellent, and the service was very good, with knowledegable and helpful waiters.

To start with this restaurant is hard to find. It is located on a small, little known street which even locals never heard of. Then the restaurant has no sign--but is in an abandoned auto repair shop. Once you have found street parking, things pick up. The staff is very friendly and very professional. The steak was good quality and cooked just the way it was ordered. For desert we had an excellent baked Alaska. No white table clothes here, but the price could almost call for one. Was enjoyable once we settled in.

We walked past this place at night, during the snow. After doubling back a few times, we finally found it! It wasn't what we were looking for.

We also got the wrong date, thanks jet-lag! But they were kind enough to seat us anyway... I guess the snow put a lot of people off travelling.

If you only go for one item, make it the bone marrow and escargot- to die for.

The service was really great, never pushy and very knowledgeable.
Wine We have found over-priced most places, so about $15 up per glass.

The soup was huge and to die for.
