The only good thing at this hotel is that it is situated in front of a metro station. We had booked a room through Hot Wire. We were three adults. When we got there we had a room with one Queen bed. REALLY???????? We asked why and answered that it was not their fault because Hot Wire had made the reservations. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you see a reservation for three is there a bell ringing up there or what????. Anyway it was a bad thing gone good because we booked the Best Western City View a little further and thee hotel was clean well located, very good breakfast included in the morning and a limo shuttle to the metro. Way Way better!!!!!!!

Room Tip: If you choose this hotel call before to make sure they have the right reservation for you.

As far as hotels go, the LaQuinta in Queens is pretty average. Our room was not ready when we arrived, but they did hold our luggage for us until we came back later to officially check in. The desk staff did not go out of their way to speak to us, but we really had no questions for them, so interaction was minimal. The rooms are fairly small, but average for New York standards. My biggest complaint was the noise. Doors do not appear to be on springs, therefore doors slam shut all night long- I realize NYC is the city that never sleeps, but at some point, you do get tired! When neighbors opened or closed their doors, it sounded like they were coming into our room. Our toilet ran nonstop. We had told them at the front desk, they "fixed" it, and by that night, it did it again. We didn't bother to call back down. There is a mini fridge in the room, which is nice. However, there is no safe. Having a son that lives about 4 blocks away, this hotel was perfect. It is in a nice area, with shops and restaurants as well as the subway stop, close by. At 38th, you are close to the 33rd and 40th Street stops. Be careful of the times you get on the train- rush hour to and from Flushing on the 7 can be pretty packed! Breakfast was free, and it was fine, although VERY crowded. The hotel offered donuts, bagels, breads and rolls, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage and bananas, as well as milk, juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There is a McDonald's right next door as well. Fresh fruit stands and bodegas are also right nearby. Due to proximity to our son and the price compared to a hotel in Manhattan, we will definitely stay here again, but probably bring ear plugs next time!!

Room Tip: Get a room away from the stairs, as the elevator is very slow, and the door to the stairs slams shut...

We stayed at the La Quinta Inn Queens for 5 nights during the heatwave in July, the room had a strange smell every time we entered it but we got used to it. The room faced Queens boulevard and the subway but it didn't disturb our sleep. Location is good only two blocks from the subway with a 15 minute ride to Times Square. Breakfast is basic only and with no hot dishes.

Stayed here 7/20-7/23/13. My husband and I have come here once a year for many years. We were very disappointed this time and will probably not return. Internet slow, TV blanked out for awhile during a downpour, toilet seat lose, 1"gap between door and door frame, no fruit at breakfast. Don't stay in room 500!

We checked in and asked about the parking. He told me about the lot, and it reminded me of a bumper car lot. What was my next choice? The clerk recommended I park under the Metro train bridge for a daily fee. So much for free parking! Then we went to our room. Very outdated, but I'm ok with that as long as it's clean. One bed had a moist yellow stain on the sheets. I called to complain and was told that housekeeping would be coming in at 10pm and would change the sheets. At 10:05 a man handed my daughter a sheet. I called again requesting another sheet, and this time I handed the man the dirty sheets. He looked at me insulted that I'd do that. The desk people were courteous but not really helpful or nice. There has to be somewhere better!

Parking behind the hotel has relatively few spaces awkwardly configured - but it's great if you get in. Two subway (elevated) stations are within ~3 blocks, and Times Square is a quick ride away on the 7 line. Wifi was fine, rooms large but not maintained to a high standard. Included breakfast is acceptable if one isn't too fussy.
