“THE CITY SEEMS SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

This is a terrific (and seemingly safe) place to get an awesome view of Manhattan. We visited at dusk and enjoyed the view in this almost serene setting. Seems the only sound was the buzz of the enormous vintage neon Pepsi sign along the walkway.

“Great view of midtown”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Great park to take a stroll and admire midtown Manhattan. Right across is the UN with the Empire state building in full view!

“Picnic at Gantry LIC”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I had a picnic at this park with the family and they had a great time. The views of the city across the river are great! The park is kept very clean and there's plenty of space to spread out on the lawns. The playground was great for the kids; the floors were well padded in case they took a spill. There isn't much to eat close to the park other than the small snack stand there. I did see a couple ice cream trucks park outside though. Other restaurants were 2 or 3 blocks from the place. One negative was that there was only one bathroom that always seemed to have a line. Also there's still a lot of construction going on; at least one apartment building and park of the park space was not done yet. Overall I enjoyed the place and look forward to taking the kids again.

“Underrated”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Gantry Park has one of the best views of the Manhattan skyline. You get up close and personal with the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, UN, etc. The space is pretty peaceful and a sweet place to spend a day by the waterfront. Manhattan and Brooklyn get a ton of attention, but this is one of the best things that Queens has to offer. The park is highly underrated.

“A hidden gem in the big city...”
Reviewed April 25, 2013

As much as I hate to admit it, I used to be one of those despicable, snotty and yuppie-ish New Yorkers who proclaimed that "I don't do borough" and vowed that there was basically no purpose to leaving the island of Manhattan... Until one day in what can only be described as an epiphany, I ended up in Gantry Park and experienced something entirely unprecedented... At the end of the day, I had to physically be dragged back across the river.
The view from Gantry Park is UNBELIEVABLE and simply beyond words... The entire Manhattan skyline literally spreads out in front of you in all its beauty... featuring the Queensboro Bridge, East River, Chrysler Building, Empire State Building, Freedom Tower, Pepsi Cola Sign, etc. It is the perfect urban jungle... imposing and magnificient.
If you are searching for the perfect spot to admire the NYC skyline... look no further.
The park itself is truly gorgeous and located literally a stone's throw away from Manhattan... one stop on the 7 train from Grand Central. It is manicured beautifully, offers lots of green spaces right on the waterfront, comfortable lounge-ish wooden chairs, a boardwalk and 4 lovely piers facing the skyline that you can stroll on. The park might well be one of the last hidden gems in the tri-state area and is never too crowded or noisy.
The area around it (LIC) is really up-and-coming and has lots of quaint restaurants, trendy bars and neighborhood charme.
And did I mention the view? :) It just never gets old... :)
