“Great spot, charming staff, laid back unpretentious and ambitious food!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

Dropped in last night and it was great. Small cozy, warm and super friendly. Asked for recommendation of two things on the menu and usually you would get the reccomendation for the
higher priced item...not here. The waitress was charming and informative and her pick was spot on. I chose the hamburger with truffle fries. It is amazing how many places cannot do a hamburger correctly. This place - perfect - ordered medium rare and there wasn't a touch of gray in it! My friend's order was just as scrumptious. You get the feel of a neighborhood restaurant with a sophisticated palate minus pretention....love it. It is small so I imagine at peak times you have to wait, but it is worth it!

“Amazing food and service”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Arrived with a stroller at 11:30am. The place was almost empty. But within 30 minutes all seats were taken. Even though we had a baby with us the staff and guests were so friendly. We got som glorious food made from high quality ingredients for a very reasonable price. The restaurant is very cozy with a very down to earth atmosphere. Absolutely a most go e.g. when visiting Moma PS1.

“Great, unpretentious food!”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

We ate here last Sunday and had to wait for about 15-20 minutes. This place is small and cozy. Since the counter had two open spots, we decided to sit at the counter by the bar. It is not a bad option if it considerably cuts your waiting time. I ordered the seafood stew and my friend ordered the duck hash. Both meals were amazing and you could really taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. At $16, the seafood stew was a steal. Two perfectly cooked scallops, squid that melted in my mouth, a prawn, and some other type of seafood in a delicious, light yet decadent tomato broth. The broth was flavorful and not too tomato-ey. We did order the green lentils, which we both thought were bland. If it were not for the lentils, I would have given this restaurant a five star review. I had a bite of the duck hash and it was very delicious and rustic. The service was prompt and all of the waiters were polite. It is a very short walk from the train station and not too far away from Manhattan. I would highly recommend this place!

“Perfect!”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

We ate here on our first night in New York after seeing it in our lonely planet guide. It's very small but that's all part of the charm. Unpretentious tall glasses you'd have drank from in your first flat, very friendly staff who loved talking food and then the food was great. Best burger we have eaten. You get what you pay for here and what you get is good.

“A Small Gem”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

I had the special St. Patrick Day's Tasters Menu which was beautifully presented and well prepared. They served Oyster black kale, roasted corn, cream; Stuffed Cabbage
sweet & sour, chicken livers, gold raisins; Shepherd's Pie prawns, scallops, turnips, potato;
Corned Beef black garlic, heirloom brussels sprouts, roasted carrot; Doughnuts with Irish coffee cream. My wait staff was attentive and paced the meal beautifully. If this is any measure of their skills, I cannot wait to return.
