“The Good and the Bad...”
Reviewed June 5, 2011

We arrived early on a Friday and we greeted by a friendly front desk clerk. We were given a nice city view room and were able to get into our room right away. The room was great, but it doesn't exactly look like a brand new hotel. There are marks on the walls, the paint job in room was sloppy, parts of the grout were missing in the shower. That's all workmanship "stuff," that aside, it really was a nice, quiet room. The subway was a quick walk away and it took about 20 minutes to get to Times Square. The neighborhood the hotel is in is not the nicest. I'm sure it was totally safe, but I felt uneasy walking back from the subway late at night.

Unfortunately, here's the bad....We returned to the hotel Saturday night to find that our room was freezing and the thermostat was broken. A man arrived quickly to look at it. He took a quick look, said he didn't know what was wrong and said he would tell the front desk. Twenty minutes later, we didn't hear anything and called the front desk, they switched our room. The new room had mold all over the bathroom ceiling and the floor all around the bed was soaking wet. We called again and were switched to yet another room. The new room had an amazing view of the city, but was not a nice room. It was in rough shape, there were stains on the wall and the air vent was on the wall near the ceiling and was extremely loud all night. We didn't bother calling the front desk again, it was after midnight and we just wanted to sleep. On the bright side, they comped our breakfast from the previous morning, but we didn't receive any kind of apology.

I don't think we would stay again after seeing the neighborhood and the condition of at least two of the rooms, but it wasn't a horrible experience.

I travel to New York City a few times a year and typically stay in the city. For my last trip I decided to try the brand new Four Points Sheraton in Long Island City. I was pleasantly surprised at the generous size of the rooms and all of the room features including large flat screen tv with the capabilities to connect to your laptop. It was also a quick cab ride into the city. The staff was very friendly and more than helpful. This property accommodated my needs and then some.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great view to the city.

It was my first time in New York and I loved it. We decided not to stay in Manhattan because it was too expensive. I found a great deal online for this hotel in Queens and I saw that it just opened 2 weeks ago. Maria at the Front Desk gave us a great room on the 10th floor, she was very helpful and friendly. Bruno was very proffesional and polite. The housekeepers were very kind and always smiling. The room was pretty big for New York, normally the guestrooms are super tiny in New York, everything was brandnew and more than clean. The location in Queens is just perfect, you walk 5min to the Subway 7 and it takes you directly to Times Square. You can´t beat that!!
OVERALL- We had a great time, thank you very much!!!

This hotel is brand new and located near the subway, the bridge and the river. But positive sides pretty much ends there... Even if it is new, it look more like a refurbished hotel, most furniture in the lobby is already in bad shape, finishing is poor, cracked or badly align tiles everywhere, stained carpet, etc. The rooms are small but somewhat confortable, the mattress was good but the noise insulation is pretty bad, a big gap under the door let you ear everything that happen in the hallway even sound from next room. The door retainer adjustment is so bad, every door loudly slam back if you forget to hold it. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, it was pretty bad, tasteless, you better walk a couple of blocks to find somewhere else to eat. You can get more than that for your money in this neighbourhood.

The hotel was pretty cozy. The sheets seemed to be to big and were jumbled up on the bed. The water in the shower didn't get hot at all. The area was nice to walk around. The customer service was not that great. A pre authorization hold was placed on my credit card twice. Customer service was not able to print me receipt out during check out. I found that frustrating especially after i found out that I was charged again!! So i was charged for 4 nights instead of two. I have not received the money back that was taken out my account.

Pros - (1) Walking distance to the subway (about 4 blocks), (2) Everything is new because the hotel is new, (3) Good water pressure in the shower, (4) Cable with flat screen TV, (5) Awesome high-speed internet

Cons - (1) Our room smelled like paint, (2) Uncomfortable bed with rough sheets and they look crumpled like they were used (3) holes in the walls (probably not done with the fixtures), (4) small sink space, (5) only 13 parking spots in the garage, although there is parking on the street if that is ok with you, (6) Front staff clueless about how to go around the city, at least have readable maps for out-of-town guests

Overall livable but I won't be returning there again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this new property. Everything was clean and fresh. From the HD television, multitude of outlets, radio with docking station and high-speed Internet connection, this is a perfect hotel for both the business and leisure traveler. The hotel is in a residential area, which was nice. The subway is a five minute walk and the subway ride to the city is less than 15 minutes. A cab ride back from the city was about $10. The views from the rooms facing the city are splendid. It was nice to see the bridge, Empire State Building and Chrysler Building from the bed. The staff was also very welcoming and efficinetly took care of a minor glitch at check-out. There is also convenient street-side parking in the immediate area. I did not have an opportunity to try out the restaurant, but I will be back in the near future. I recommend the hotel highly.

Room Tip: If available, upgrade to a room with a terrace
