“Great value in NYC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2010

New hotel. 5 min subway ride to times square and 5 min walk to hotel. We came back to our room after midnight each day and never had any issues using the subway.Rooms are good size with decent beds. breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold. The only negative being that the hotel was cheaply built and sounds carry through tthe rooms and corridors quite easily. I would recomend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in NYC on the cheap without having to sacrifice on quality and safety.

First of all, do not forget that Country inn and Suites NYC in Queens is a 3 star hotel, so do not expect 5 star service.
We booked 4 nights on the hotel website. We did not have any problems with our reservation and the check in and the check out went easily and quickly. They did not charge extra money. We payed the same price that was on the confirmation.
We were three, all of us women.(25-35)
Area: the hotel area is shady, but it is safe enough.(but maybe we were too brave) for example The first day after dark at about 9 pm we went across the Queensborough Bridge. So we think it is not a dangerous place.
Subway and the bus: The subway (N,Q,7) and the bus stop are very close to the hotel. 3 or 5 minutes walk. You can get wherever easily and quickly.Time Square is 10 minutes by subway and Central Park is also 10 minutes by bus.So a short trip and you will be in Manhattan.
Room: It was comfortable and clean! And it was enough for us because we used the room just for sleeping. The kingsize bed was very, very comfortable, but the sofa bed was horrible. It is good for everything except sleeping! The bathroom was clean, and we did not find a dirty sheet or towel in it.
Unfortunately the air conditioner was very noisy in our room (812) so we had to turn off during night.
Staff: It is true they never smiled and they kept their distance, but they were helpful. If we asked for something they helped us quickly.
Breakfast: The breakfast area was very small, so you should go to eat early or you will have to wait for a table.
The choice: cereal, coffee, milk, tea, waffel, butter, jam, fruits, bagel and something that looks like sausage and eggs.So it’s not a typical European continental breakfast, but if you are not picky it is ok.
Next to the hotel was a gas station where we could buy everything we needed, and it was not expensive.
Overall, it is a good 3 star hotel which met the expectations.

We loved our stay at Country Inn & Suites! What an amazing experience for the price ($125 + $25 in taxes = $150/night) The hotel is a three minute walk to both the subway and bus stops. It is just one stop into Manhattan (5 minutes) to Lexington and 60th which is VERY central. The room was super clean, granite sink, everything was new. We liked the micro and fridge in the room too. The room was big for NYC standards. The breakfast (which is included) was great, because we did not have to go to eat. The bagels must be from a local bakery in NY, becuase they were truly delicious. The one computer in the lobby was a help, because we could check our email. We visited the extensive convenience store next door which was very handy. This sure beat paying $200+ for a tiny place in Manhattan!

I stayed here for 5 days in september. I found the room to be very comfortable and clean. We had a room with a city view which was fantastic especially at night. The staff were very quiet I dont think their english was the best. The hotel is located 5 mins away from quensboro plaza subway station which offers rapid transit into manhatten. I found the area where the hotel is situated to be very quiet. The people in the area are very helpful and have no problem stopping and giving directions. The other great thing about this area is that there is a 24hr petrol station/shop located right beside the hotel. If you just need a hotel to use as a base when sightseeing this is the place for you.

I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK.....

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, August 31 and Sept 1 2010. Overall it is a decent hotel. The room was clean, but smelled of cigarette smoke even though this is a non smoking hotel. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked (water pressure, etc) The internet access was easy.
My main negative is that the front desk staff was unable to smile. They just wouldn’t. I don’t expect big fake smiles all the time, but once in a while, pretend to enjoy your job folks, please? Don't look annoyed and put out when I check in.
I was gone all day and came back at 5pm and the room hadn't been made. I really wanted to kick back and relax, but instead had to go out again. I called the desk and they acted surprised that I wanted the room made up, as if it was normal to take so long.
Breakfast was a standard free breakfast…factory made bagels and donuts, cereal, yogurt, juice and a waffle making station. Also some strange looking “scrambled egg” discs, like the kind on an egg mcmuffin. I got up early so I didn’t encounter crowds in the breakfast room.
A note about the area: This is not a high crime area, but it is a quiet, semi- industrial area where the side streets are deserted at night. I wouldn’t recommend this location to women traveling alone as a result (busy pedestrian areas feel safer than empty streets). Not much in the way of local restaurants either. Access to the subway is very easy, only a block to the Queensboro Plaza station for the 7, N, and Q lines. Train service was very frequent and less than 10 minutes to midtown Manhattan.
I've stayed at other hotels in this chain and had a much better (friendlier) experience.
For the price I might stay here again, but I’d suggest booking it and then look for last minute deals in Manhattan, as the price can come close sometimes and you’ll get a more interesting neighborhood. but be careful how you book; Note that there is a 2 day advance cancellation deadline for refundable reservations, and some reservation categories are non refundable.

I was very pleased with this hotel. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and had requested a room with a view, which was accomodated. We were out and about most of the time but when I did need something the staff did not hesitate to get it for us (extra towels) and brought them to the room within 5 mins! Any questions I had were answered promptly and they always looked up and smiled when we came in. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is in a safe area, the subway is nearby, the rooms are clean, there is a grocery store next door if needed, and we were treated respectfully. We had a wonderful time!
