Had to go there to believe that MoMA would convert a former school into an outpost for modern art in, of all places, Long Island CIty! For some reason, the neighbourhood and the inside conversion all works...

Cyprien Gaillard's "Babylon" was a mesmerizing iinterpretation of the past, present and future of Iraq.

Ferhat Özgür‘s video, "I Can Sing", with Jeff Buckley's cover of Cohen's "Hallelujah", was also of note.

Worth the visit.

I'm maybe not the most "artsy" person ever (unlike the family members with whom I went this summer), still it was captivating. And honestly, in this city, it is great to see such a large space opened up to the art scene! Some of the installations are really "far out", but recommended for some good ol' mind bending!

i like PS1. I like it with friends, and by myself. I like it even when i don't like all of the stuff that's being shown, because somehow the sum is always greater than the individual bits, summed. It is super-easy to get to from manhattan, and well worth your time (if you're a visitor) or your repeat time (if you're a ny-er)

Lots of space and lots of variety of programs that goes on there. Look for the free museum days and then go free kayaking on the Shores.
