We are from out of town and had an afternoon free. The weather being beautiful, we decided to go to Long Beach and stopped in to the Allegria for lunch. I asked for a table at the window facing the boardwalk which we were graciously led to. The restaurant furnishings are awesome in a New York way, all plush leather, mirrors and crystal. The boardwalk was just reopened in this section, 6 weeks ago, after suffering extensive damage from Hurricane Sandy. I think this may be the only restaurant fronting the boardwalk. We had french onion soup followed by prosciuitto, arugula, and parmesan cheese paninis which were accompanied by fries. We also ordered glasses of wine. Everything was delicious. The bill was over $70 which is a lot for lunch, but it was a wonderful experience. I especially want to give a shout out to our waiter Mark, who spent the last seven years in the Marines including three tours in war zones. Mark is a native of Long Beach and was happy to answer all our questions. Thank you for your service Mark!
