“Recent Visit to Long Beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

The city of Long Beach has been totally upgraded since Hurricane Sandy. So has the Long Beach Hotel. I found the hotel to be 3 stars above the prior experiences noted in other reviews.
The management and staff are putting their best foot forward to show off the new and improved facilities.
The Long Beach Hotel is only a block away from the beautiful boardwalk and centrally located in Long Beach, NY. If you are looking for an affordable visit to a beach resort area without the craziness of the Hamptons, this is it!
There is lovely bar area on the first floor with traditional bar fare. Reasonable prices and courteous service.
I travel to many cities and find that staying near a big city instead of IN the City to be a much less expensive rooming option and save the funds for tickets to concerts and shows.
With it's proximity to the Beach and boardwalk I had no need to pay extra for Gyms and pools.
I found the Staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: There is no pool or Gym currently. Trip advisor has not implemented the NA option.

Let me start by saying I read the reviews on here and thought I would check the place out for myself a few weeks ago. Me and my wife decided to have a mini vacation away and booked a room at the hotel. When we arrived, we were surprised to find out that there were no bell services, so we had to lug all of our bags up the stairs, not a good start to the trip.

When we got to the front desk, there was a younger girl sitting at the front desk who was more worried about playing on her cell phone than greeting us or checking us in. After 20 minutes when we were finally checked in, we were informed that the elevator was "temporarily out of order" and would be up and running in a few hours. based on the reviews i read on here, that seems to be a constant problem. Rather than offering someone to help us bring our bags up, the front desk girl said enjoy and watched as we made 2 trips to the 3rd floor to get our bags up.

Me and my wife found the initial experience go and didn't let it get to us, that is until we saw the room. Highway robbery isn't even the words for the 150 dollars we spent on this room that was the size of a closet. No curtains, nothing on the walls, a leaky faucet, and no place to sit in the room besides the bed were just a few of the things that were wrong with the room...

During the day the room was freezing (when we called down to complain the front desk girl made it seem that we were inconveniencing her by asking for some heat... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!??) didn't know that asking for heat when it was 35 degrees out was such an invonvienence... Until the night came around, when our room was hotter than a steam room... Our complaint once again feel on deaf ears and we were told "open a window" The management of this place has absolutely NO CLUE!!!!!!!!

We are not from around the area so we decided to stop into the bar and grab some food... Where do I start... We sat down and ordered some drinks and were given a menu by the bartender (who seemed to be the only person who worked at the hotel who had any clue what they were doing). She was polite and professional and greeted us with a smile (the first we saw in more than 24hours of being here) We should have known better than eating at a place like this but we were starving and didn't know any places around the area... What a mistake... We were the only table in the place for lunch. it took 30 minutes to get out a salad and sandwich. When it got there, it tasted like something i would feed my dog. No flavor, slopped onto a plate, with dried out chicken. We couldn't complain anymore so we took a few bites, and nauseously walked out after paying our grossly overpriced dog food. When we asked to speak to a manager, none were to be found.

The sad part is the place is located just two blocks from the beach, so it would have been a nice place to stay on our trips from the city to the beach. The management definitely does not have a grip on the staff or has never worked in the service industry before, because they literally did not get 1 thing right the whole two day trip... I would be amazed if this place was open for more than a year. Don't waste your time and money, stay ANYWHERE ELSE but here!!!!

Needless to stay we will never return

This was the worst hotel we ever stayed in. I average almost 225 nights a year and never saw such a poorly kept hotel. Housekeeping service was occasional and random. Several days without room service. I discovered the elevator did not work and was being repaired tomorrow, of course tomorrow came even after seven days.

there was no help with the baggage, trash bags left at night in the corridors, and a lighted fire exit was nailed close. The fire alarm was not properly installed and the ground floor mens roon was filled up with trash.

I would rather sleep in my car than stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Stay anywhere else!

Stayed here for a wedding in February. Rates were low and location convenient. The first room we were assigned had a ceiling tile in the corner which was sagging due to water infiltration. Just above the entrance door was a collection of wires tied together with a zip tie dangling about 18" down out of a hole in the ceiling. The very pleasant lobby clerk, Susan, offered to change our room. She gave us a much more spacious corner room. HOWEVER, the sink was clogged and didn't drain. I tried to plunge it with a washcloth and disgusting brown particles threw themselves up into the sink, turning the non-draining water a shade of brownish-gray. I immediately went downstairs to notify the very pleasant Susan, who said she would send a maintenance person up. About 30 minutes later, a man with a plunger attempted to clear the drain. He was unsuccessful; told us there was a hair clog and that a REAL plumber would arrive in 2 hours to remedy the problem. No one ever arrived to fix the sink. We had to do all our sink toileting in the shower. I periodically gave the desk clerk(s) updates on the sink status to no avail. [Side notes, don't look under the bureau should you decide not to heed my warning and stay at this hotel.Oh, and don't expect to receive speedy service in the bar downstairs. I waited about 15 minutes, then walked away.] I asked for a discount on the room when we checked out. The unpleasant Lindsay told me I had to pay in full and that someone would be calling that day to address my request. 5 phone calls and three weeks later the lovely Susan finally gave me a reply from the general manager: The hotel was willing to discount my NEXT stay by 50%. Ahhhhh hahahahahahaha!!!! Gotta love it.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, ask for a corner room as they are more spacious. Bring ear plugs if airplanes...

I rarely write a bad review of a hotel but this place deserves it. We were visiting family in the area and this place was convenient. We had previously stayed at the Allegria which was beautiful.

This hotel had been a nursing home. The rooms are small and dingy with poor light. The shades let in light. Beds were lumpy. The toilet had brown water...hopefully rust. Wall are thin and we could hear the partying in the next room. The remodel looked so sloppy that the doorknob to the bathroom had pain on it. The elevator was out of an old Hitchcock movie and did not fit two people and two suitcases.

The front desk person was pleasant and helpful. There was no effort to help with luggage. It was snowing and there was a slippery piece of plywood between the area that a car or taxi would pull up and the curb.

If you need a hotel in Long Beach in the winter, stay at the Allegriae. It is beautiful and reasonable.

Went to the Long Beach Hotel for the New Years Eve party and everything was great, the food, the music, the drinks, the service, and the people. The staff there couldn't do enough for us, they made sure we had a very good time. Everyone danced the night away. We will be spending every New Years Eve at the Long Beach Hotel. Go down to the hotel and see all the great things they have going on all the time.

To celebrate the incoming New Year some holiday ambiance was in order for a revamped hotel. The impression of the hotel should have been impressionable not forgettable .The dinner was the like a hall with our table next to a deli display and kitchen door, took forever to get drinks and the service was extremely slow. We would never go back
