“a gorgeous hotel in a wonderful location.”
Reviewed April 27, 2011

We stayed at the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach.....it is stunning. Everything is modern and up to date. The beds are so comfortable and the linens and towels are just incredible. Loved the wonderful robes in the room. At night we opened the window and listened to the ocean. We had a wonderful view of the ocean and boardwalk. You walk out of the hotel directly onto the boardwalk. We walked on the boardwalk every day. The beach is glorious and right there in front of the hotel. You cannot ask for a better location. Met some surfers in the elevator, still dripping wet and holding their surfboards. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. Wonderful experience!

+ Great location, right at the sea side and next to the train station (1h to penn station)
+ 24h gym is modern machines and ocean view - very nice
+ Helpful and friendly staff

- sometimes no hot or even lukewarm water
- in the lower floors, it is very loud because they play music in the bar
- in the lower floors because there is a machine running all night (air condition, heating?, not sure what it is exactly)

This hotel is new, only a year old and absolutely beautiful in decor right on the boardwalk in Long Beach. It has a beautiful sitting area with a fireplace, lovely glass tiled bar, beautifully decorated restaurant and a couple of private rooms for small parties in addition to a grand ballroom that is modern and amazingly gorgeous.

The front desk staff was warm & welcoming to us, explaining some important hotel information readily upon our arrival. Our rooms on the fifth floor were clean and beautifully decorated. Not much storage in the rooms. Great lighting, flat screen TV, that didn't work but maintenance came right away and got it working for us. Our window opened and we enjoyed a nice breeze from the ocean, then it didn't close properly, had a large whistling noise, but again, maintenance came and corrected the problem right away so I felt the service was terrific with any issue we had. The bathroom was pretty but again not enough counter space and a few more hooks would have been appreciated but we made due for the one night. The rainshower again is pretty but the water pressure was not hard enough for my liking. Had we planned a longer stay, would prefer a larger room with more storage and space.

We had a private dinner party of 18 people in what they call the "sexy section" of the restaurant, which was beautiful and we had a wonderful time. Food, service, drinks and desserts were all delicious. The event coordinator, Cristen, was very nice to work with while I planned my party and she assured me everything would be splendid for the party and it was. She also made an appearance at my party and she upgraded our room to the oceanfront accommodations which I appreciated. They did not rush us out of the restaurant, we were very happy we celebrated our birthdays here at the Atlantica.

The fitness room is up on the 8th floor overlooking the ocean which is very nice and clean. The spa, pool and rooftop restaurant is not open yet nor do I think is being worked on so will not open anytime in the near future.

I appreciated and enjoyed that they put out complimentary starbucks coffees and teas on the bar in the morning.

Overall, the hotel is a beautiful, new place to stay, relax and enjoy. I would recommend It however, it is quite expensive in the summer months.

Room Tip: Ocean view room a bit larger than beachfront room

I stayed with my husband for three nights at the Allegria in late March. My daughter and her husband live in Long Beach in a one-bedroom apartment so it is nice to now have a great hotel to stay in so that we don't have to camp out on their living room floor!
When we got there, we were upgraded to an oceanfront room, but unfortunately the window would not open. We told the front desk manager this and he promptly changed our room to a similar one one floor down. It was a beautiful night so we got to sleep with the window open and hear the ocean waves! Whenever we had any request, the staff were very eager to accommodate us! Room was clean and bright and comfortable. Do not miss the Sunday brunch-this was spectacular!!

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are heavenly!

I have been waiting for a first class hotel to be included in what "I love about Long Beach", unfortunately The Allegria Hotel falls far short of the mark. While they have secured a lovely spot on the beach, and certainly met the mark in some areas, they a have a way to go in how they service their guests. The front desk staff were not friendly, accomodating and/or helpful in creating an atmosphere that welcomed me into their hotel, and offerred little assistance when a problem arose that was created by their mistake. I was looking forward to being a "regular" guest since I have family in Long Beach and there are no other hotels reaily avilable on the insland. However, until the pool on the top floor is completed and the staff is given some guidelines about "guest services" I would be reluctant to return. The restaurant and bar are lovely and offer wonderful, tranquil views of the ocean & boardwalk. The excercise room is well planned to take full advantage of the view. At the present time, their prices are that of Manhattan without the service and ambiance. My 2 day visit was a disappointment.

First the good. The rooms are great, very clean. The views can't be beat. We had dinner at the hotel. Although pricey, the food was good and our waiter was very nice and helpfull. Now the bad. The shower in our room had no water pressure. Luckily, we are locals. We actually went home to shower. When we came back housekeeping threw our bottle of wine away and also the dessert we took to our room from dinner. Honest mistake I'm sure, but we were staying two nights. Took alot to actually get them to give us a bottle of wine and a piece of cheescake for their mistake. Ice machine on our floor was broke. Pool and rooftop lounge not opened yet. No spa either, although the itinery includes all three. FYI, a 22% gratuitity is included for room service. Overall, for some reason we felt like we were trespassing.

We only live about 15 minutes away, but decided to check out the new hotel as a mini getaway.

We were pleasantly surprised with most aspects of the hotel. The common area decor was fresh and upscale and the rooms were a nice change of pace from the everyday hotel decor.

We had a nice dinner at the Atlantica, we timed it so we could have a window seat for the sunset which was great. As we were leaving dinner around 8 it started to get pretty crowded and loud. The food was good and pretty much worth the price which was the price of any other nice fancy dinner out, nothing absurd. The service was above average at the restaurant.

Pros: Super comfy beds, great shower, mini fridge, premium cable, decor, great lighting, great staff, really nice lounge down by the bar area with comfy seating and a fireplace.

Cons: Super thin walls, we could hear the music from the wedding 5 stories below, plus we could hear the rooms next to us and REALLY hear the noise in the hallway, the toilet had some issues.

Unfortunately it was too cold to even take a walk on the boardwalk, but the location can't be beat if you are looking for ocean front.
