“Spacious room with extra amenities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2009

We selected the Lockport Inn & Suites for a one-night stay in mid-September 2009 on our way to Niagara Falls. The room was great and very clean -- one of the best of its type we've stayed in. Even with two queen beds, a sofa and desk, there was lots of room to move around, and the closet was spacious and lighted.

That lighted closet was just the first many little extras we found in the room, such as a phone in the bathroom, aerosol air freshener spray, paper towels in the kitchenette area (fridge, microwave, coffee maker) , two artificial floral arrangements, five framed colored prints, and a ceiling fan (in addition to the regular air conditioning/heating system. There was plenty of seating space and lights for reading (often a weakness in motel rooms).

Don't be put off by the "old motel strip" appearance of this property from the street -- it becomes transformed when you drive around back into a large, nicely landscaped parking area surrounded by relatively new-looking buildings. Our room was on the ground floor in Building C.

The location on a busy street (but quiet in our building) is nothing special, except it is convenient for a short 3-minute drive into downtown Lockport. We ate breakfast at the Friendly's on Main Street, and from there we walked across the street to the historic Erie Canal locks. They are well worth a visit, with a pleasant walk through the locks and by a series of interpretive signs. Locks museums are also nearby -- one old small one at the end of the locks, and a much larger more modern museum a few blocks away.

Negatives? I believe there is no breakfast at the Lockport Inn, and room entry is from the outside rather than a more secure hallway entrance arrangement. But given the relatively low price and outstanding room, we found these negatives to be inconsequential.

We were thoroughly pleased with our stay.

The Lockport Inn caught our eye as we pulled into Lockport. We had stopped at the Comfort Inn (bad vibes) and the Holiday Inn (too expensive). Then we saw the Lockport Inn.
The reception was cordial and warm. The grounds demonstrate a superior attention to detail and the rooms confirmed that impression. The courtyard is inviting -very nicely landscaped. The proprietors were visiting with two different return groups while we were
at the Lockport Inn. They care about their visitors and I'll bet they have many return guests and get great referrals from their guests. It is worth the stay!

This beauty was recommended to us by a local tour bus driver. The room was CLEAN, very tastfully decorated and very comfortable, including the bed. Furnishings were a cut above the usual found in major chains. Microwave, refer, and jacuzzi tub were all included. The owners checked us in and recommended a great local restaurant (Shamus) where we had a delicious meal. It was so nice to get away from the cookie cutter sameness of the name brands and experience a little local color.

Drove from CT and stayed here for a wedding in Barker, NY. Booked through Hotels.com and checked in without a problem. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and the hotel provided a small crib, which she had no problem sleeping in, though we booked the room w/ 2 queen beds instead of a king should she need to crash with one of us. Room was clean, plenty of towels, small fridge, microwave (easily heated up her bottles!) and window a/c & fan unit.
Pool was FREEZING but fun for a short while...we had other family here as well, and were able to see a room w/ one king bed, which also had a couch and chair (would DEF opt for that set up next time, or if we had no child with us)....Walked downtown (great little diner right by Erie locks), and short walk other way towards Denny's and others (Aldi, Rite-Aid)...had car too (duh!) and drove to a HUGE park on High Street, which was AWESOME for our daughter and her cousins.
Staff was friendly, water pressure in the shower was like a massage and the only negative thing was that the pillows were way too big and thick. they actually made my neck hurt.
Otherwise, fabulous for the price!

I recently returned back to Western NY after 11 years and had the absolute pleasure to stay at this lovely hotel. Typically I stay with family members but all have moved away and this was the first time I have ever stayed at a hotel in my hometown. I loved the fact that I did not have my laptop and could only rely on the local news and the Union Sun & Journal for keeping up to date on the news. . . . so I couldn't comment on their WiFi access (nor did I want to). The great thing about this was the getaway no computer, no e-mail, no voice mail, finally a trip where there was no work involved just relaxation!

I took my wife to Niagara Falls, NY & Canada, ate at Reid's (Red Hots & White Hots), Wagner's (Beef on Weck), Lock City Pizza, took her to Olcott Beach and where I went to school. Each night returning to a quiet wonderful room.

From the check-in to the check-out everyone was great. I just hope I don't have to wait another 11 years to go back home!

This hotel has pricing on par with your Holiday Inn's, Hampton Suites, etc. That said, you get a lot more for your money here. Our room was very large with a king bed, large closet, fireplace, jacuzzi, mini-fridge, couch, desk, two sinks, the list goes on. Even with all the amenities, the room was far from crowded.

As far as entertainment options, you have a cable tv with HBO, etc. There is also a thick packet of movies you can order up from the front desk free of charge. Then you just tune your tv to the proper channel and you're good to go.

The thing that impressed me most about this hotel was the cleanliness. I normally stay in places like the Holiday Inn Express, Country Inn & Suites, Hampton Suites, etc. which are all normally pretty nice and clean but I feel the Lockport Inn & Suites goes beyond the normal expectations. It was really incredibly clean and the bathroom was immaculate. I have never written a review for another hotel but I felt compelled to review this one for all the reasons mentioned above. It was really a great experience staying here.

In conclusion, if you're in this area and looking for a place to great place to stay without breaking the bank, I would highly recommend this hotel. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Last minute trip to Lockport, and all we wanted was a clean, clean room with okay beds. We were not on vacation and didn't care about pools, etc.

The Lockport Inn was a surprise. We did get a clean room - an immaculate room. Not a speck of dust along a radiator, not a hint of any odor, just fresh and clean AND comfy beds. The cleanest place I have stayed in was the Statler Hotel at Cornell University in Ithaca - but this was its equal. Maybe not as plush, but just as clean.

There were three adults and one child in our party - two sisters, a daughter and her small baby. At the recommendation of the hotel staff, we booked the suite. The living room is large and spacious, with a jacuzzi tub and a murphy bed. It was the perfect place for the baby to toddle about when were we there in the morning. The adjoining bedroom has two queen beds. We were very comfortable putting baby down for nap or early at night in his port-a-crib in the living room (the hotel does offer cribs), knowing he was safe in a room without an exterior door and within earshot. The baby's mom thought the suite would make for a wonderful family vacation - a room to put little ones to sleep, a room for the adults to relax and watch tv and sleep in peace (at least as long as little ones would allow).

I would look no further for accomodations in Lockport. I would love to find more places like this when I travel.

  • Liked — The three c's: clean, comfy, calm.
  • Disliked — There really was nothing to complain about, nothing missing.
